I installed everything yesterday, some things did not work as intended and I had random crashes, so I reinstalled everything today. Now I wasted like 2 hours on mod settings ingame, then went to the statue for alternative live and as soon as I teleported to the wilderness, the loading screen got stuck. ALT+F4 and now I can't load the save I made before teleporting anymore. Is there a modding wizard out there who can tell me what is wrong now please? If you don't learn how to mod Skyrim then you will just move from problem to problem and waste countless hours and days posting on the forum. Modding Skyrim isn't that difficult it just requires a lot of time and effort to learn the 1,001 things required for a stable game. No one here on LL (or anywhere else) who has a heavily modded, stable Skyrim got it overnight. The Conglomerate and S.T.E.P. guides are good places to start. Understanding your mod manager and its pros and cons is another important thing to learn early-doors.

I made this thread since it's a different issue (not tied to defeat, i have since removed several, but since I now have this issue, I can't test if that solved it) than the other and a different list of mods and load order. I used the conglomerate guide the first time. I went step by step over it the second, to make sure I followed it. My issue with the guide is that it only goes to a certain point. I have things installed that were not in there and also there have been some different versions of mods along the way. If I stop exactly where the guide stops, it would probably be fine, but also not have any of the things I added later. I made the post in the hopes that it might be something obvious that someone who isn't new to it (or rather coming back 6 years or so later) might catch without me having to do the whole remove mod/test it/remove another/test it/repeat til it works/add mods 1 by 1 again deal. Just say "no, i can't tell you what mod causes the issue" and it would be fine.

A general point: Papyrus logs aren't much use for trouble-shooting CTDs - the logs are buffered so they are always somewhat behind where the game is at when it crashes. The vast majority of CTDs are caused by memory problems. This is why it is important to have the stability tools (Crash Fixes, ENBoost etc) correctly configured - always double-check your edits to these. These CTDs are generally random in that they happen anywhere and after a varying length of gameplay. Other common causes of CTDs are too many character animations but this causes the game to crash on loading. This problem is removed by using Animation Limit Crash Fix. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/100672 Bad skeleton or mesh. These usually happen in the same or related areas, i.e. where a particular creature or object spawns. Have you tried starting in a different location such as an inn, dungeon or different outside area? Did you try the game in a vanilla state before loading it down with all those mods? If you are using Vortex then purge all your mods and just add Alternate Start (and any dependencies it has plus Racemenu, XPMSE and FNIS etc). Start a new game and use a default Nord or whatever and move around Skyrim fighting, crafting etc. If things look okay this point then re-add your mods a few at a time and check as you go. Do the visuals/landscape stuff first as they are big on textures. Then add all your general mods, including armours etc. Then InterestingNPCs (that is a BIG mod). Leave all the DD and DD related stuff until last.
