AFF does not want to install on my computer...!?

Dear all,

 

I'm having serious issues with AFF (version 161... but also 107 when I try it) since it appears not to be working at all on my newly reinstalled FO4 game.

 

Honnestly, I think I'm lost in the process.

 

Let me explain from the beginning (I'll try to make it short):

 

I wanted to move my FO4 game from a HDD to a SSD (for disk space reasons, since all the mods I used took a lot of place and my HDD drive was full). Thus I changed the installation directory in Steam, and I copied and paste all the content of the DATA folder into the new location. I ran FO4 (F4SE) and... nothing was working.

After that Epic Fail, I deleted the game, and reinstalled it from scratch from Steam.

And then I reinstalled all my mods with Nexus Mods Manager.

 

And the game was just crashing after 1 second of loading with the AFF version 161 (the latest available from the Nexusmods).

Thus I deleted that version and reinstalled the previous AFF version (107). And I had a LOT of issues in the game, since "Just Business" was half-working (I was only able to make people being my slaves and that all... no renaming, no returning to home, no teaching obedience, ...), and sometimes even the MCM was just disappearing in the game... and even, a few times, the mods said that F4SE was not correctly installed (but I didn't touch it between 2 attempts...!?)

 

After a chat with a friend, I removed NMM from my disk and installed Vortex instead, following his advices.

 

Now, the game is able to launch itself with AFF version 161, all the other mods seem to work (as long as any AFF is not required), but yet, it seems AFF is not installed correctly.

The best result I have is as per the attached image.

 

I don't understand why AFF is not correctly installed since I followed exactly the HOWTO available (link in the discord page of AFF), and also as per the LL link of AFF:

Vortex is telling me my mods are correctly installed. But still, no AFF available ingame. And the [Home] key doesn't work, obviously...

 

Would you have any advice, ideas, or solutions for me?

Have you addressed the issues (text) highlighted in red on those last two pictures?  The missing INI and data files.  Also your load order is wrong.

 

Sorry I can't be much more help, I have never used Vortex, and the last time I played FO4 there was no AAF.

Might wanna update your AAF version to the latest and/or make sure nothing is overwriting it in Vortex Rules.

But i don't provide any support here since it's a pain in the ass to hold a support session over hours, days or weeks in individual separate posts in a forum.

 

As stated in the guide itself, which you probably missed: Head over to the AAF discord for any real support BY THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT AND MAINTAIN IT.

There is one thing you may have overlooked from the guide, or it might be that it wasnt in the guide. I havnt looked at the guide in awhile. You need to change a setting in xse Plugin Preloader.xml to OnThreadAttach. That will help the game load along with mods and scripts and all.

Another thing you should do, is to verify that all the files are in place in the games directory manually. Look inside the AAF zip and look at the scripts and other files and then look to see that they were all installed to where they are supposed to be. I do not use Vortex.

Well thanks all for your ideas and advices. I think I'm going to restart from scratch for the 2nd time, before I loose my mind.

I'm not a big fan of Discord, but if it is the latest possibility to find a solution, I'll go there.
