[Solved] SMP - still no solution?

I regularly try to use SMP in my games. I have a fairly good computer, i9-9900K, 32GB RAM, 1080Ti. The character has simple CBBE HDT body.

 

Yet, a single SMP skirt (Le Sucettes or Nier Automata Outfit) can kill the FPS. The framerate can drop to 5 from 60. I also use KS Hairdos SMP, but if I use only the hair, I don't have FPS drops. If I use only the skirt, the FPS drops regularly.

 

So, do I do something wrong? Should I use 3BBB body? Wouldn't that make things even worse? Is there a "magic config" which allows for stable fps with SMP clothing?

I suppose it depends on the HDT outfit.  I don't have any substantive issues at all. I wear a few HDT item and  have SMP fully working on my female player's CBBE-3BBB  body, and my BHUNP followers behave correctly (and can wear HDT items)

 

I don't know any magic. I just read the mod descriptions thoroughly and followed their instruction for installation.

 

HDT outfits sometimes go "wonky" , just like the 3BBB's SMP will sometimes go wonky. Both are easy conditions to fix in-situ by

a) items - unequip and then reequip the item

b) body - switch between CBPC and SMP mode (EDIT: switch to CBPC mode and then back to SMP mode) using the mode-switch hotkey provided by a 3BBB enabled body (CBBE-3BBB or BHUNP), OR issue a console "smp reset"

Thanks, this comment made me look at it again. I realized that my 3BBB was way out of date. I changed my body to 3BA and used the xmls there too. Since then I have very little issues only, which is great ccompared to the earlier regular fps drops.
