Haven't had a crash yet, but I'm not far in and my game isn't drastically different from vanilla.

I do have a pretty big stack of texture and mesh replacer mods tho, just sayin'

If you're not very far in the game,  it is now a good time to fix the load order.

DLCs are wrong. DLC patchs right after each DLC.  armor-Clothes Mods up

Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp
UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp

example load order here

https://www.loverslab.com/topic/36443-oblivion-install-gametoolsbodiesbbb-load-order-sorting-espesm-cleaning-cs-cse-body-stretching/

--------------------

Your load order works, and maybe it will work with 20 or 30 more Mods...  but then you install one new Mod and your game crash.

That happend many years ago with my game, about 50 or 60 Mod and games worked. Then I installed one new Mod (armor mod with only one chest in game) and my game crashed.

I changed the load order of the new Mod, near the beginning, in the middle, at the end of the Load order  .... but the game crashed.

Then I read about load order and sorted my Mods. And the game worked better than ever.

Just for testing I changed the position of the new armor Mod I could place it wherever I wanted in the Load order, no crashes. Of course then I placed near the top , where the other armor-clothes mods were.

:) Thanks for that. I'm actually not even playing the game RN and I'm still in Vilverin (?), right outside the sewer exit. I'm only playing it as a demo for the time being, maybe I will rearrange the LO properly.

I'm also not adding any more mods to the game.

But thanks, I appreciate the advice!

I'd be grateful to know what the bare minimum installed mods are to stop it crashing all the time.

Have you seen Optimization for Windows 10? Engine Bug Fixes in particular is very useful.

I've found that In my installation, at least, the game takes it's plugin list from

C:\Users\InsertNameHere\AppData\Local\Oblivion

not the game folder, but Wrye Bash writes to the game folder. I'm not sure how to fix that.

I hadn't seen the first link. Thank you!
