How do you share your own mod?

Recommended Posts

I am 90% (well less than) through creating my own mod (generally an extension to another mod, adding a quest(s), scripts and some items).

I'd love to share and get feedback on it.

However, the last time I tried attempting this process - resulted in me ruining what I had made. (I am fine with 7zip, just getting all the right things into a 7zip is what I am thinking about,)

Does anyone have a link to how to do this easily - or just some basic advice? (In CK File->Export looks a bit scary)

I hope there is some button I've failed to see, that does it automatically.

I will remember any category of files I add to data, and then copy and package them together without missing

What? There's a button that automatically puts these things together for you to see? I don't think that's the case.

Thank you , that's really helpful.

I'll have to assume that there is no easy way then. I can deal with that - my mod isn't that big, but  who on earth thought up this structure?

Have you looked at other mods file/folder structures? As I haven't started making mods yet, and I'm not familiar with any controlling document on how mods are to be assembled, but it seems to me that aside from the behavior of fomod installation management files, the structure of most or all mods is basically a mirror of where resources, scripts, etc came from in the Skyrim folder structure.

so if some file from your mod comes from /Data/whatever/, then the archive file structure should contain that file under the /data/whatever/ folder. Everything in your archive goes where it will be in the final deposited location in your game folders.

Build this structure in your mod folder, just as it will be seen in the game structure, then zip the whole shebang up using 7zip.

Afaik, it's basically as simple as that.

MO2 throws everything you make into its Overwrite Folder, thats essentially as easy as it gets

If you want to keep Vortex or w/e youre using, you have to grab everything manually. Windows has this really useful feature that lets you sort things by last edited, use that. Newly created or edited files are always on top that way

Thanks, that's helpful !(and yes I am using vortex, MO2 sounds better in this respect!)
