My game crash when player character take off the boots

My SE has been stable for a very very long time but I don't know why it started to crash whenever my Dragonborn takes off his shoes/boots. Here is my load order, could it because of previous SOS related mods?

A crash in the same location (or doing the same thing) is almost always the result of a bad mesh/texture added by a mod. Evidently it is a foot mesh. Go back and delete your body type (CBBE, UUNP, etc.) and add it back from scratch. If something (anything) has corrupted the mesh this should fix it.

If removing your shoes causes a CTD, unless you have some "fleet footed feetz" mod installed that's causing a conflict,  I'd think you might have a problem with your feet. To which I would say... Rebuild your body in Bodyslide.  Make sure to rebuild your feet and hands as well.

^^ not a guaranteed solution but my logic is  as follows:  removing boots reveals feet. if there's a problem with the feet themselves (ie the "naked feet"), then it would most likely cause issues when they're revealed, like when removing boots or shoes.

Why would this happen out of the blue? No idea really, but I could guess that along the way, you installed another mod that screwed up the mesh or texture for the feet.

I suppose it's also possible that your boots are corrupt, but then I'd expect the problem to reveal itself while wearing them, not when removing them.

Thank you so so much for this! I wasn't getting the same issue the OP has but it was a foot issue that the crash report was telling me. I was getting a consistent crash close to were I start my games, which I had forgotten about a long time ago because I had moved on due to never having been able to solve it.

Turns out it was 3BBB the whole time and I only needed to uninstall both CBBE and 3BBB and reinstall from scratch to fix it. It's crazy how literally one mod can break an entire game. Thank you again!

You're quite welcome.

Hello, sorry for digging up this post years later.

I am using CBBE, 3BBB, TAWOBA Extended and YiffyAge. I was experiencing the same sort of crashes when removing boots/feet equipment from either the player or NPCs nearby. As mentioned in the previous posts, this is most likely due to conflicts/overwrites in between the body mods/meshes. Additionally, I think these CTDs are also due to some sort of conflict between armor mods with skeleton/body mods since I could remove boots off characters without CTDs before I installed TAWOBAE (less likely, might just be conflicts between YiffyAge and CBBE/3BBB).

I attempted to use the solutions detailed in the previous posts (reinstalling 3BBB, etc.), which didn't work. In the end, I deleted BodySlide output files of the hands and feet tris that I had built, in addition to the body tris, for all the armors. These files were overwriting the hands/feet tris included in the original mods (CBBE, 3BBB and YiffyAge digitgrade feet). It may have been enough to delete the feet tris only. This fixed the issue for me, and all the characters look fine (minimal seams/texture distortion).

Hopefully my specific situation and fix will help someone out there,
Thanks.
