Desperate for help - Creature animations won't work :(

Hello, I've had a hell of a process tryin to get Sexlab for Skyrim SE to work, I was hesitant to post here as I see so many posts about issues but I am really desperate for help at this point.

After many attempts I have got base SexLab animations working with Follow for Sex mod. But I absolutely cannot for the life of me to get creature animations to work, which is the main reason I bought Skyrim (don't judge) !

I also want to share what went right for me for people who are running into problems.

So I started off by installing all the requirements for Sexlab, there were a few instances where I accidentely downloaded the Oldrim version rather than the SE, so look out for that.
I installed requirements correctly, installed Sexlab 1.63 Beta by manually copying the files into my Skyrim/Data directory. Ran FNIS, updated with skeleton arm patch checked. It said animations were updated with no warnings.

I used LOOT to sort my mod order.

I start the game with a fresh save, and my character is floating in a weird position, unable to walk. That obviously didn't work. When I tried to open Sexlab MCM, gam crashed. So, I decide to reinstall Sexlab via Vortex. I'm not sure why, but that made a difference. When I rebooted, loaded the same save, it told me Sexlab was initialized. But then nothing. This time, the Sexlab MCM menu opened, but when I clicked the 'install' button, nothing happened. I tried the enchanter and Mass Match Maker mods to initialize sex but nothing was happening. I decided Sexlab wasn't working.

One of the guides that initially enticed me to try sexy Skyrim suggested Sexlab Light for SE, so I figured why not try. I uninstalled the original Sexlab framework, deleted the archive, and installed Sexlab light. Booted LOOT and updated animations in FNIS.

Behold! When I start the game, I get a message that Sexlab is installing followed by voice, 470 character animations and nearly as many creature animations. When it said Sexlab Light is ready, I decided to try the Mass Maker Spells. This time it said the spell was working or fizzled, but all it seem to do was make NPCs masturbate.

Finally, I tried Follow for Sex mod, and it works! The animations mostly all seem to be working well. Pretty exciting. It took me like 6 hours to get to this point.

Now, what really got me into this was the fantasy of an elven princess screwing around with goblins/rieklings. So Tirk the Horny Riekling was the main mod I wanted to try. I have installed all the requirements, SSE says Creature Framework is installed when I boot it. But something is not working.

Tirk has shown up in my game and looks normal, but the sex animations won't start. I have tried updating animations, sorting mod order via LOOT, I just don't know what to do.

There are 2 possible issues in my mind -

1. Creature sex/Tirk are not supported in Sexlab Light, which would be brutal because the prospect of trying to install the original Sexlab again seems intimidating and I'm not very confident it will work.

2. The mod order, which I am fairly sure is the main culprit, hopefully, as it seems an easier fix. Vortex is telling me there are indeed conflicts.

Or I could have went wrong elsewhere...

One more thing - it was definitely one of the creature/critter mods that have screwed things up because wolves are now showing up in my game like this. See screenshot

I am really desperate for help, I feel like I'm so close to getting it to work, I would be willing to make a small donation to an individual or to the website if someone can take the time to help me out, if that is allowed.

I am really hoping to get this to work, I have spent all day trying to get it going and feel I'm so close after getting the Sexlab animations to work with other humans..

Thank you for reading

something was installed wrong, a red ! is a missing mesh that the game can't find.

use the links found in the "Install Guide Notes 64bitSESSE.txt".....also use mod organizer, not vortex....and watch some mod organizer guides on youtube...most importantly the ones about FNIS.

edit: also stay away from Sexlab light, you need the full version.

OK I will do that. Thanks. Are you aware of any issues with Sexlab Light specifically? Does the load order look OK?

Also something else I noticed, because I noticed in another thread about creatures to go into Sexlab options and enable creature animations. But despite my game saying Sexlab Light is installed correctly and animations are working, when I go into Mod configuration there are no options. See attached...

yea, it's not compatible with anything. "Sexlab Light" was made back when SKSE/skyui did not exist for SSE yet. absolutely no one should be using it for any reason now. please remove it immediately and install the real sexlab.

Damn, ok. For some reason I was not able to get the original Sexlab to install properly. I'm going to reinstall Skyrim and try everything from scratch. I've just been going through the text guide and am impressed by how comprehensive it is - thank you for your time putting it together and for your work on the mods.

Hey man, I tried reinstalling everything from scratch and followed your guide but ran into the same problem, game booted with my character stuck in a weird pose and floating.

I think this is the area I am running into problems, I just wanted to clarify this instruction

More Nasty Critters Special Edition (aka: MNC / MNCSLAL / MNCv12)
https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/5464-more-nasty-critters-special-edition/
(WARNING: Please load/install any XP32 skeletons before MNC. Do not let there skeletons overwrite MNC or your game may crash or have floating dick problems, MNC is using nodes not found in these skeleton mods.)

Creature Framework
(2.0.2) https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/4130-more-nasty-critters-slal-edition/
or
(1.0.1) https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/5462-creature-framework-se/

So if I'm reading this correctly, does the More Nasty Creatures SLAL edition replace the creature framework? because you say one or the other...or is the or between MNCSE and the slal edition?

Afaik, MNC is usually installed instead of the older Creature Framework (2018 release), which has largely fallen out of favor. (in fact, when I made the change to 1.5.97, I couldn't get the older framework to work at all).

So, at least in my book, if you're playing Skyrim using ver 1.5.97 and using SKSE642.0.17 or newer, the older Creature Framework is obsolete.

Thanks a lot man... I can't seem to get things working no matter what I try...maybe just not meant to be for me.

As I recall from having to reinstall the framework (in whatever form...which ended up being MNC) after I got auto-updated to 1.5.97 unexpectedly last year, it wasn't "pleasant" and I felt much the same as you probably do.

So... I ended up having to methodically uninstall and then reinstall all my creature stuff and all creature related animation packs (unregister them first before uninstalling the animation packs)  in order to get things straightened out.

Further, as I recall, while uninstalling all the related stuff (all creature related mods) from least relevant (any addon basically) to most relevant, ie, the framework itself, (basically in reverse order of installation), I cleaned thoroughly using Fallrim Tools "resaver" at each stage of my uninstallations to make sure the game was still working, played for a little while without any of it once they were all gone, made yet another new save and cleaned again, and ONLY then started reinstalling the components, taking care to ensure all relevant dependencies were pre-installed before any component requiring them and checking the game in between installations to make sure the new piece worked.

SOOOOOO.... I'd give it another try. Just be very patient and plodding, reading all the descriptions again and checking the requirements sections twice...

Late response here, but just wanted to say thanks man. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has gone a bit mad trying to get this complex framework to work. Your words have encouraged me so Im gonna take another crack at it tonight...nothing to lose but my time XD

Not sure why I am reviving this thread now but... just wanted to share that I randomly decided to take another crack at it this week (while I was kind of drunk for the record) and IT WORKED! This is something I never thought would happen so its quite exciting.

The key for me was that using Creature Framework 1.1.0-pre2A-SE instead of CreatureFramework V2_0_2. I'm not sure why but the V2_0_2 version would not work no matter how many times I tried. I want to thank the author of MNC, Billy, Leito, Babo, Ashal, anyone who has put time and effort into making this amazing system. I am extremely impressed by the creature animations, really talented folks doing this.

Also thanks @anjenthedog for your support.
