Crazy, unpredictable crashes

Hey All,

Hate to be "that guy with the crashing problem", but here I am.  It's the weirdest thing, there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to the crashes.  It can happen within 5 minutes of starting a game or two hours.  Inside, outside, combat, strolling along minding my own business, large crowds or completely empty fields, doesn't make a difference.  I can't force it to happen  The only thing that is consistent is that it will crash every time on exiting the game, (if I make it that far).  I've gone through the majority of the posts here to see if there is a similar issue, and I don't see one that seems as erratic as mine.  I've attached a BOSS log and a copy of my load order, if anyone could take a gander and let me know if I'm really jacked up I would appreciate it.  Also, if anyone else has experienced a similar issue, would you please let me know how you rectified it?  Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Sorry to tell you this but you just described playing any Bethesda game (sometimes without mods.) When I play Oblivion it crashes randomly regardless of what system I play on let alone on pc with mods.

 

I'm sure you maybe able to find some obscure way to increase your stability but for the most part your load order is fine, I guess you could clean your mods but besides from that it's probably just the game.

 

Posting your PC specs may help others find problems and fixes for you though.

Specs are good, 1.8G dual core, 4G ram, Radeon 5700, 64G free space on hard drive.  Its weird, because I've ran the game before with the same load and it was way more stable, just a crash every now and again.  Reinstalled, did everything the same way (or at least as close as I could recall), and now it's friggin possessed.

As cornbreadtm already pointed out, what you described is pretty much playing a Bethesda game. Unless you've already tweaked your oblivion.ini file I'd suggest doing that. You can just google "Tweaking oblivion.ini" and you should find some guides. It usually decreases the amount of crashes. That being said, playing Oblivion(especially if you're using mods) without random crashes every now and then is pretty much impossible, due to the simple fact that the engine isn't all that stable.

I'm new in Oblivion but maybe these suggestions help.. Read that High heals is generally buggy. It needs OBSE 21 (i think) beta too.

 

I noticed you have UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp. That esp slot you could avoid by using Wrye Bash tweak, my WB has it on by default,maybe it conflicts.

 

Yesterday i installed Enhanced Economy - House prices.esp, i think you don't need it with OOO, OOO allready puts prices on houses ((x3). Maybe you have a conflict there.

 

5E  Beautiful People 2ch-Ed Ashara's Sirens and Tritons.esp

68  AsharasSirensAndTritons.esp

maybe you could delete 1 of them,since it's same race.

 

See You Sleep DLL.esp, has some conflicts with quests that u need to sleep to start them. Use latest pluggy and quemenu 9a, some of them are buggy.

 

 

Mart's Monster Mod.esp Version 3.8b1

*  Error: Delete. Not needed with FCOM.

 

Knights.esp Active

*  Bash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH: Actors.AIPackages, Factions, Relations}}

*  Contains dirty edits. It needs cleaning, if you can clean it,it's very easy with a guide.

 

Oblivion is the biggest pile of steaming crap of a game i've ever seen (in terms of optimization) cursed thing can conflict even with it's own DLCs sometimes. if i hadnt found lovers i'd burned the cds on a crucificial ritual long time ago.

Edit: Use latest pluggy and quemenu 9a "WITH MBP", some of the new quemenus are buggy.

 Pluggy - Extract "OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dlx" and "OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dll" to "Oblivion Install Directory\Data\OBSE\Plugins". If you don't have an "..\OBSE\Plugins" directory, create one. RENAME the file "OBSE_Elys_Pluggy.dll" to "OBSE_Elys_Pluggy_HUD.dll" - DO NOT FORGET THIS STEP -
