Certain animations are not showing up, could it be a folder issue?

So, I tried my best to keep all my mods organized, but I don't know if I'm doing a good job at it. I have all my mods/animations in my Mods folder; however, I have 90 different folders in my Mods folder. Could this be causing certain animations to not show up? For example, I don't see any Fouyaya animations in-game, even though I have like 8,000+ animations installed WW says. Whenever I download a new mod or animation, I create a new folder for it and put it in there, but I never go another folder deeper. For example, this is what basically every folder I have looks like:

Quote

C:\Users\User\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\Amra72_Animations

And then inside there I have Amra72 animations. I do the same for basically every animation creator/mods. Is this a bad way of organizing things? I'm just trying to figure out why Fouyaya animations are not showing up in the list even though I have them installed the same exact way.

I have all my animations in the same folder named WW Animations.

Not sure if all the older animations still work with WW as I'm not using Fouyaya myself.

Maybe someone else currently using them can validate as still working or not.

Does this mean I could go two folders deep for my animations or would that be bad? I would much prefer doing it the way you're doing if I could, because it is starting to get messy.

Yes they aren't script mods so they can be put anywhere and even in deeper sub folders.

Although I just dump all the raw animation files into one folder so I don't end up with duplicates, usually.

But in case someone changes the file names which I've found with at least one author already then you can still end up with duplicates using different filenames.

Someone just asked about something similar. Go into settings and uncheck the option to respect gender preferences. I had a bunch of animations disappear when that setting was changed some builds back to be more specific. Some animations were labeled as BI to keep the option open for all combinations before the change. Though now those animations only appear for Bi sims, even if the animation itself is visually fine with straight or gay couples.

That may or may not solve your issue. One way to check is to create a playlist, where you're able to see all animations in-game, regardless of if your sims preferences match the current labeling.

Forgot to mention you can also reduce the number of folders in your mods by using categories for cc.

Example:

Mods/Basemental (Another Script Mod with no folders inside)

Mods/Bodies

Mods/Build Buy

Mods/Clothing

Mods/Hairstyles

Mods/Jewelry

Mods/Makeup

Mods/MCCC (Since this is a script mod you can't use any more folders inside)

Mods/Misc.

Mods/Nails

Mods/Skin Overlays Non-Default

Mods/Wicked (Script Mod no sub-folders)

Mods/Wicked Animations

Mods/Wicked Objects

etc.

All the other cc folders without scripts can have sub-folders inside but again I just dump all the loose files straight into each category folder by type.

Keep in mind this will also cause your sims to have autonomous sex with any/all genders, usually.

I prefer to just make a few sims each having Bi-sexual preferences rather than using the WW global settings and creating a free-for-all using the method below.

https://wickedwhimsmod.com/relationships#/relationships-gender-preference/

I can see all the animations just fine with 'respect gender preferences' enabled, I think...

(On second thought I may need to do more testing in game in case something has changed in WW)

(But it could also be because I've enabled the WW setting mentioned below in bold)

There is also a second switch elsewhere for this, plus the 'Always Accept' cheat also affects it; (I have mine set to 1 bar to follow gender rules).

The other WW switch that might fix it is off by default so unless the OP hunted for it and enabled it's not likely in use.

I just learned about this setting myself yesterday and I've been quite familiar with all the WW settings, or so I thought anyway.

WW Settings/Sex Settings/Gender Settings/Advanced Gender Settings: Fit Sex Animations to Sexual Function

(When you enable it WW gives a warning).

(I just enabled this yesterday and still testing to see what effects it has).

Confirmed months ago that wasn't the case, when some of my faves from Anarcis were missing after the WW update that defaulted to that "respect gender preferences" option. After a full folder reorganization checking for duplicates and a day of testing, I realized it was due to the new default setting, since the missing animations were labeled BI/M when Anarcis created them. (It was done as a shortcut long before the gender preferences mechanics changed, so he wouldn't have to set two separate M/F and M/M designations). Wouldn't play for a straight male and straight female sim - and after testing, wouldn't play for a gay MM couple either. "Grower and show-er" for example. M with impressive unit, standing proudly. F (or M) looking down, marveling at it... a bit scared. Unless you add it to a playlist, it'll only play for BI sims now. Not straight MF or gay MM. Unless the option is unchecked. No orifices or anything, but it still won't play. That's just one example though, as there were a lot more with that issue from old animations. It's just tough to set a labeling standard when you have a bunch of people independently creating. Goes with the territory.

Does suck to have the occasional unwanted/surprise dick in the butt, but some of the otherwise missing animations are worth the lube. No pain, no gain. :)

(Really, it just means extra curation on our end via playlists or banned/deleted animations to get our own sims preferences displayed right. If someone really wanted to bother, they can open the animation pkg in Sims4Studio I think and change the labeling for their own game, too).

As for the autonomous sex part, I haven't experienced that. Even unchecked, autonomous sex seems to take preferences into account when an NPC initiates. It's just once sex begins that some mismatched animations will play, more often than not in group scenarios.

WW Settings/Sex Settings/Gender Settings/Advanced Gender Settings: Fit Sex Animations to Sexual Function

This one is new, I think. Should hopefully help with some - if not all - of that. I assume it just prevent sims sticking it in a non-existent vagina or sucking an invisible dick, ect. Will have to check myself, too.

Interesting, I must have blinked and missed those changes along the way.

Guess I haven't noticed missing animations from the lists because I wasn't looking for them.

Since I play straight genders only and pretty much just MF 2P only those changes don't really bother me.

I forget sometimes that sims aren't smart enough to decide if they want to be a male or a female :)

But I'm fairly content now that my sims are all 'doing it' somewhat normally now at least.
