Furlow69 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 On the subject of bestiality. I regard it as sex with non-sapient creatures. I had an odd thought when I read this. If a human were born with a severe brain deformity that prevented sapience, assuming he/she survived to adulthood(or at least the age of procreation) would someone having sex with that person be having bestial sex? I know this is like a year old post, but I would like to clarify something here. One can't loose their "Sapience" status or even grow into it, you are born a Sapien or you are not. Sapien is scientific clasification for our species, currently "Homo Sapiens". I think you ment Sentience, which is a long definition in it's own but pretty much meaning self aware to put extreme basics. (yes I know there's hell of alot more, but I don't want write a book over it)

To be sapient is to possess wisdom. To be sentient is simply to perceive or feel. Fish are sentient, if only just. Humans are sapient.
