ForgottenGlory Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 A little while ago I came across this: www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/39006 It's a fix to the skeleton used in FO4 that makes CBBE's knees not terrible. SSE's version of CBBE has a similar (but not identical) issue. I began digging into the XP32 skeleton to see how to replicate the changes the FO4 version made in NifSkope and ran into some issues. The first is that, of course, the XP32 skeleton is significantly more complex. This isn't really a problem if you follow the node tree deep enough but I did notice that the foot portion of the skeleton is attached to the beast-race portion of the skeleton. I'm not sure if it's possible to move that so it's attached to the regular NPC portion of the skeleton. The second is that the FO4 skeleton has a bhkNPCollisionObject node/effect that isn't available for the SSE version (or at least, isn't available that I could see), so I'm wondering if there's a differently named version of this node/effect for SSE. From what I can tell, the FO4 skeleton is using this to displace the thigh and calf bones to an offset node defined in the skeleton as needed based on ragdoll physics. Lastly, it looks like the X/Y/Z axes got rotated around from SSE to FO4 making copying the values to get a baseline to work from a bit of a pain, I'm unsure if it's possible to change the axes in the SSE version to make them match. Any assistance, advice, or knowledge related to these would be much appreciated!
Guest Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 I'm no help, sadly, but I am highly interested in this.
TheStinkyOne Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Someone on the Nexus is trying to fix it. Knee Fix (Prototype) at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) Going to try it tonight, will update if it works well or not.
anjenthedog Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 FYI, for best affect from the knee fix mod, make sure that IFF you modified knee-height in bodyslide while creating your player (or other), bring the value back to normal and rebuild, then if you still want thigh/calf proportions different than stock, use racemenu adjustments to do so. (was advised by mod author on that point btw)
judge007 Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 It's not the knee-fix, but works just as well. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/28574 load after XPMSSE both sides of MO2 Benefit: character will have longer legs and shorter body
anjenthedog Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Fwiw, I use both knee fix and better wrists and ankles. Not sure if that's good or bad, but it doesn't result in catastrophe...
Potato_Skill Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 I notice that better wrists and ankles mod makes my character's ankles and wrists longer. Is it something that's expected? Or is it just me?
anjenthedog Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 yes, it does that. Not sure if it's "expected" though, as I added it to an already customized body both via Bodyslide and racemenu... In any case, it's actually one reason I'm debating getting rid of it, not so much the longer legs, but the arms (visa via wrists) are a little weird. (the second is that it really didn't fix the problem I was trying to solve... lobster hands, which I'm still fighting with periodic dips into racemenu to reset the hands to their proper size)

Been fighting that for months
anjenthedog Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Yes, it's F___ing annoying as He__. it's as if there was a skyrim virus that keeps on checking to make sure my hands are reset to 125% of their normal size. It's not even clear *when it happens. I fix them, then all of a sudden I realize "hey. my goddamned hands are lobsters again., wtf??????" At this point, with the 2+ years of dead silence on the issue and about a half dozen queries of various sorts on the issue, I suspect there's a mod author out there laughing his or her ass off at the malicious housekeeping code he or she injected. There is no good reason why they should be changing from the value I set in racemenu. No other settings getting fiddled with. Not a single one. Just right and left hand. PS> for the record, it happens even when I walk around bare naked, so for any reader who has the words "check yer armors" slipping from his or her lips about now, No, it's not my armor. And no, it's not jewelry. But I digress...
