Does Vortex require a top-level 'Data' Directory?

MO2 is perfectly happy to see meshes, textures, esp, etc. at the root of the .7z/.rar, recognizing that they're implicitly in the 'Data' directory for Skyrim SE. Is Vortex similarly intelligent, or will it whine if the root of the archive isn't a 'Data' directory instead of the files?

I do not know for sure, but it would have to be the same. Because that is how mods are packaged. The format is assumed to be unzipped into the data directory (in the case of MO2, and I would imagine Vortex, a virtual one) so none of them have one included.
