Can't leave cell (Alternate start)

Not sure how or what mod has caused this, but it just started happening today. Whenever I pick something on the Alternate start mod and after I try to sleep on the bed I get a loading screen, however it just sends me back to the prison cell. I then try to leave through the doors at the abandoned prison, again there's a loading screen then brings me back there.

 

So I thought to myself, why not just uninstall the mod and try another alternate start mod, like Realm of Lorkhan. Again, as I chose a place to start I get a loading screen and taken back there. I've never encountered something like this before, if anyone knows of a fix or knows what other mod is causing this, please let me know.

There is only one solution to your problem - try disabling mods one by one and find out what mod is doing this.

It's hard to say what causes that problem, but posting your load order might help. First, read the troubleshooting section of the description and see if there is a solution there. If that doesn't help, you might have a mod that conflicts and then you need a patch, so you need to look for patches for LAL and see if any of your mods come up.

 

As a last resort you can try disabling plugins like Insar suggested, but start with the ones you suspect. You don't need to disable graphic mods or UI mods like RaceMenu for example. Try without the ones that changes cells first. If you only have a few mods, you can start with this if you want, but going through 200+ mods can be very time-consuming.

 

And you might want to remove the picture in your signature. It's very intrusive and blocking it made your post a lot easier on the eyes.

In addition to the solutions already mentioned, there would be another. Uninstall the last mod you put in (if you remember which one it is) and check if you have the same error. As mentioned, mods can create conflicts and even putting a pacthes can not solve the problem. The best solution, in my opinion, is to remove the last installed mod.

Thanks guys, I understand the process of unchecking and rechecking mods to find the culprit. I just thought if anyone knew a mod that was notorious in doing this they could just point me in the right direction. Been modding Skyrim for years but this is a first time for me.

Sounds like AS itself. If you teleport out of the AS cell using the console you'll be teleported back by AS. So the question is what option are you picking? Is it a vanilla AS option? If not it's probably the AS addon you're using. If it is a vanilla AS option then I'd check for file/record overwrites or reinstall AS. Move AS to the bottom of your LO.

I actually thought that would've been it, but after reinstalling still nothing. I should have thought so even after it happening to Realm of Lorkhan. I'll just check one mod at a time and see what's up.

Haha not a stupid question, but yes, a few times trying different starts. Still the same bug

It has to be alternate start if it is sending you to that specific place. 

 

Manually uninstall Alternate Start, paying particular attention to the scripts folder.

 

There must be a script in the mod which teleports you back there if you haven't triggered the next phase of the quest. So something must be broken there.

 

Another solution would be to get the quest pointing to the bed, then in the console type sqt, so you know the quest name for AS, then type sqs so you know the stages of the quest, then do setstage quest xx to manually advance the quest past that point. Then just leave the cell or coc to another cell.

Ohhhhhhh I see! It's Beyond Skyrim Bruma! Must be a patch I've yet to install or something.
