picket Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 For some reason, after so many hours I don't even remember anymore why, I reinstalled CBBE 3BBB to fix a minor something (Edit: Oh right, I wanted to try a less CPU heavy version because I got fading/"flickering" NPCs). After reinstalling, constant CTDs when trying to load any savegame, a new game seemed to work though. I don't want to start new though... I tried every option I could think of on reinstalling, rebuild my bodies and armors, no change. As soon as I disable 3BBB the game loads fine, HDT and CBPC still active (linking everything so it's clear which ones I use, if in doubt). Then I tried replacing the 3BBB version with CBBE SMP and disabled CBPC as suggested, but that immediately crashes on load too. I'm totally out of ideas... I deleted any remains of physics stuff in my SKSE/Plugins folder, installed every physics-related thing from scratch, but nope, 3BBB is impossible. Unfortunately, without 3BBB the physics built with a CBBE Special body look horrible (small breasts bouncing like crazy), so if anyone has any idea what to try to get 3BBB to work again it'll be really appreciated. And no, no new game, this is the 3rd time this year I restarted after looong being into the game and I finally want to finish it! With physics...
picket Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 Thank you, but no go. I got everything working fine until installing 3BBB, which immediately crashes the game. All I can think of now is trying damage control, which means trying to get somewhat okay physics to work without 3BBB and replacing all my armors... so far it's not so great. Of course in the meantime I found out my original problem was in no way physics related and is fixed now. Edit: Ah, interesting, SINful CBP (which I never used before) also crashes the game on load. Edit 2: Okay, so I got CBBE SMP (3BBB) working (i.e. game doesn't crash and stuff wiggles without glaring issues). I cannot apply the Auto Rescale disabler though, and can't add SINful, or the game crashes again. I can leave CBPC enabled without crash, but disabled it now since apparently it's useless/not recommended with this 3BBB version. But at least I see a chance I can continue from here. So current only working order is: CBBE XP32 HDT-SMP (CBPC) CBBE SMP (3BBB) Now to see if I can redo my Bodyslides with that...
anjenthedog Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 did you read and follow the requirements list? You can't just install Sinful CBP, there are four dependency mods required for it to work. CBBE-3BBB also has four dependencies (and if any of those have dependencies, they need to be installed as well. In addition, you need to be running Skyrim 1.5.97 and SKSE64 2.0.17
picket Posted October 5, 2020 Author Posted October 5, 2020 Yes, all requirements met. I had it working for months in the order I can't load a game in now anymore. Simply reinstalling 3BBB must have somehow greatly messed up my recent save files but left the game itself and old saves alone. I can install my old order with working 3BBB and 1. start a new game and 2. load an (very) old save with it (same playthrough) in which all physics work fine. So if everything else fails I "only" need to replay a months worth, not start from scratch... which is still super annoying. Even more so because that old save contains another annoying (unrelated) bug I had since somehow fixed but can't for my life remember how. To reiterate, it only began because I had a weird bug in which actors started to fade in and out ("flickering") and falsely assumed it was due to heavy physics going on, so I reinstalled 3BBB to choose a more perfomance-friendly option (less SMP) to see if it fixes anything. Ever since that reinstall, even when I immediately went back to my original 3BBB install settings, the game crashes on load. I'm only trying to restore what I already had. The flickering of actors was in the end not physics related at all, it was apparently "dripping when aroused" that caused it.
anjenthedog Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Oh... I see. yes it's annoying. C'est la vie. If you want the game to work like you had it. suffer the loss of some levels. Thing is, once you've been through the game once or twice, you can get to level 30 or 40 in a pretty short time. Of course I don't know what level you're at but I hope you get my point. good luck. It's pretty clear to me that I can't help you any further.
picket Posted October 5, 2020 Author Posted October 5, 2020 Well, it's less the levels but more the unbearable amount of side quests and house building I did in that time. Plus, I must find out how to dismiss iNPC followers again. I hate this game... yet can't stop.
MellowDrama Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 damnit so no fix for me its the hours of configuring the damned mcms
traison Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Quote Necromancy? I am a member of the College of Winterhold, in good standing! They haven't allowed necromancy for hundreds of years! Theres so many issues here from CTD to physics not working to actors flickering, you're going to have to be a bit more specific than "still no answer". If you're crashing then: crash log, or it didn't happen.
anjenthedog Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Regarding your reinstallation issue...What I've noticed recently (been doing a lot of skyrim housekeeping and much delayed mod updating recently), sometimes you have to completely uninstall a mod, then open and resave your favored savefiles (ie, your current working save, and any other most recent vectors you may also use) to establish a "this mod ain't here no more" flag on the save file, clean them after, at least clean them of "unattached instances", ideally hunt and individually peck out any references to the mod being purged, then reinstall the problematic mod and load the cleaned version(s). This starts skyrim without foreknowledge of the mod being added, so any little trick bits that got set during first run aren't set and don't upset the "reinstallation" by figuratively saying, "skip this step, it's already installed!" But if that was already tried and failed the simple answer is that IFF literal "CBBE-3BBB" is no longer an option, moving to 3BA (maybe v2 if v3 isn't to your liking) might actually be a benefit, even if it means some work on your part, since 3BA has far more adjustment points than 3BBB, (which isn't all that far removed from its grandparent CBBE in terms of nuance), and 3BA is more contemporary with a lot more new(er) supporting mods than **3BBB. True 3BBB is almost as much an anachronism as CBBE-Advanced or CBBE-SMP. The often ignored middle child of the CBBE family. And while it *might have some positives, it appears to have many shortcomings. CBBE >> CBBE Special >> CBBE SMP >> CBBE Advanced >> CBBE 3BBB >> CBBE-3BA (v1) >> CBBE-3BA (v2) >> CBBE-3BA v3 **Mind you, I say that as someone *still* using CBBE-3BBB... but only because it's still working... for the most part. (things get dicey when I use 3BA stuff and usually fail, sometimes only partly) New "3BA/3BBB" armors and clothing are, with almost no exceptions, a no-go for me. They just don't seem to work with the 3BBB underpinnings, probably during Bodyslide build, since I'm using a 3BA XML (armor) against a 3BBB spec (body preset).
