Tops34 Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 Hello and welcome to my tutorial of how to make your own voice sets. I’m using a workflow I got from a guide hosted on YT for speech sound editing (I used it on a podcast and also for tutorial videos). There are two programs involved, both are free. The first is VLC for extracting the mp3, the second is Audacity for sound editing and extracing. But before we start, there are some points you should take into consideration of choosing the video to work with. I avoid scenes that take place outdoors completly, or indoors in big room with just a bit of furniture. The reason is to avoid hall indoors, and chirping of birds outdoors and any othe noise that can be distracting (cutting the lawn, traffic, planes, etc.) and at least are hard for me to remove with sound editing (I’m not an expert). But there is more: · The partner should be on the quiet side · The furniture used in the act should make as less noise as possible · Same goes to the actors when moving · And of course no music (it’s ok if it’s been played at the beginning and/or the end). 1. VLC The first step is to extract the mp3 file from the video. For that I’m opening VLC, go to media in the menu and choose Convert/Save. Spoiler Click Add and choose the source video file. Next click on Convert/Save at the bottom. If you click on the arrow at the right side choose Convert at the bottom, if you have done that before (with another video file) you can also click left of the arrow and Convert should already be selected. Select the destination folder and choose a name then hit Start. Spoiler The programm should start and the blue progress bar increasing. Spoiler If nothing happens click on play and then it should run. For me this little „bug“ only happend if I have opend the video normaly as if I want to watch it and went through the process shown above (the media - convert/save part). Now that we have extracted the mp3 we can close VLC and move on to Audacity. 1. Audacity Start Audacity and open your mp3. After the import you see two tracks. Now we need to reduce the stereo track to a mono track. So click Tracks in the menu, then Mix and choose „Mix Stereo down to Mono“ in the dialog. Spoiler You should come up with a single track. Notice the gap between the markings. One minute is far too much. So click on the loop with the + until the gap is 0.5 seconds like shown below. Spoiler Now it’s time for the first effect: the Compressor. So choose it from the menu Effect then Compressor. Spoiler And choose the settings shown in the pimage below. Spoiler Threshold: -25 Noise Floor: -45 Ratio: 2:1 Attack Time: 0.10 secs Release Time: 1.0 secs check „Make-up gain for 0 db after compressing“ Hit OK The blue line in the track should be a bit thicker than before. The second effect is an equilizer. Mark the whole audio track with CTRL-a and choose Effect/Filter curve. Spoiler Change the curve until it looks like mine. There is also an automated way. Go to Effect in the menu, then choose Graphic-EQ Spoiler Next click on Manage, then Factory presets and choose low Rolloff for speech. Spoiler Hit OK. I used the method with the manual curve for 21 of the voice sets in my replacements, and the second method for the last set (19 Human JTGen). Now comes the tricky part. We need to reduce the sound noise. The best parts for doing that are either at the beginning or the end (after/before the music part if the clip has it). Here is an example how music looks like: Spoiler and here the part that we want: mostly just noise Spoiler The highlighted part is selected (with the mouse just like with a text editor). That is the part we use for the noise reduction – The effect filter needs an example. So we choose and mark a suitable part. If you mark a part of the track and hit play you hear only that part. Good for controlling. Now we choose Noise reduction form the Effects menu. Spoiler We get the following dialog: Spoiler The dialog comes in two parts, labeld as step 1 and step 2. Step 1 is to choose a part of the sound file as a sample. That’s why we have marked a part with sound noise. So we click on „Get Noise Profile“. If you haven’t marked a part of the sound file, cancel the dialog an mark a part. Then get back into the dialog. The dialog closes automaticlly. Now we have to mark the whole sound file. So press CTRL-a, and open the dialog again. This time we need the second part of the dialog (Step 2). The problem here is not to reduce the sound noise too much, because it can also affect the parts, we want to keep. So keep the numbers low and, if neccesary, do the whole procedure again. If have used the following settings: Noise reduction (dB): 8 Sensitivity: 2.50 Frequency smoothing (bands): 2 Noise Reduce yes, Noise Residue: no Hit ok. You may get a result that looks like this: Spoiler I marked a part as an example of what you are looking for. Though the louder an actress gets the thicker the graphics gets. The lenght of a file we want to extract should be around 1 second, 1.5 secs max if you choose in SL a voice delay of 2 secs. Longer times can let SL plays moaning after the animation has endend (for a few moments, until its done). Listen to the marked part. Adjust the marking if neccesary. You can remark it or enhanced it. For that just point the cursor an the end or beginning. The cursor changes to a hand symbol. Now expand or decrease the marked area. If you are satiesfied with the result you can extract that moan by clicking File -> Export -> Export Selected Audio. Spoiler Choose destination anf file name. I’m naming mine 1,2,3 and so on. Spoiler Save it as wav 16 Bit. I don’t know if a higher bit rate would also work. But you can test it. For the latest set (19 Human JTGen) I used the 16 Bits, I don’t recall if I used the same for the older sets (I did them over a year ago). One important setting is the „Project Rate (Hz)“ that you find at the bottom left of Audacity‘s window. Spoiler I used the settings provided by sunspotz in „Sexlab Extra Voices 1.1b“ which are 44100 Hz Mono 16-Bit (Uncompressed means wav format). But according to Nymra in „SexLab Extra Voices Expanded + Voice Packs 2.4“ it could also work with 48000 Hz Stereo 16 Bit and 880000 Stereo 16 Bit. I’m satiesfied as it is so I stayed with it. Anyway, last step is to rename the files you extracted. It has to be the exact spelling that is used in the original mod. And of course you have to activate the set in SL MCM under voices. Happy Hunting! Last but not least. I wasn’t satiesfied with the results I got in the example file I used for the screenshots. The noise reduction wasn’t good enough (too much blue between the moans) and the male actor moaned into the ones of the actress. So I threw it away. Happens. Good quality takes time – I hope you’re satiesfied with my sets even if they are not perfect. There is one last issue I want to show you. Spoiler Under the red circles you see lashes. That is the visualization of the sound that a thigh makes when it hits the butt of the actress (doggy style). Now some of them are between the moans, so we can avoid them. But they are also within and not always seen. I don’t know if it’s possible to remove them without damaging the moan. My sound editing skills are not good enough for that kind of work, so I don’t use them. I’m not a native english speaker so please forgive the mistakes I am sure I made. You find that guide also as a pdf under downloads. 2
running4ever Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 there is a missing folder in 19 Human JTGen I think, are the sound files supposed to be under Nusbie directly?
sshar22 Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 yep, 19 Human JTGen is repacked wrong, the folder is missing until, the OP corrects it, users should just create the folder - 19 Human JTGen - themselves and move the files into it. Cheers
Aki K Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Any chance of an all in one download? I intend to replace almost all of them.
Tops34 Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 I repacked set 19 and added an All-In-One pack. Hope it works.
Irishredneck Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 These are way cool! BUT... I picked and choose the files that I liked and hand dropped them into the female voice folders of the sounds that I had. Each folder was carefully placed and organized with the "mild, med, and hard" respectful folders. When I assigned them to an NPC (or the PC) I got silence. Nothing played. I reloaded sound files in Sexlab. Still silence. I renamed all the files to 01.wav, 02.wav, etc -silence Reloaded sound files again in SL - silence. I can get sound from the folders that I didn't fuck with OK, but not from any of these. Please tell me how bad I fucked shit up, and how to Unfuck myself!

sshar22 Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 @Tops34 How about doing a similar exercise for this mod? ? PC Head Tracking and Voice Type it has quite a big selection of sound possibilities especually in the BYOV Cheers

That's exactly what I did. Gimme a few min to get my head outta my ass and catch my breath. I really want these sound files, instead of the old sound files, so I'll have to go find Nusbie's mod. Thank you SO much!

Like sshar22 said my files are replacements for the additional voice file provided by the "Nusbie Voices for SexLab"-mod, not for the original sets that are shipped with SL. So you need to install Nusbie Voices first (the version that comes in two parts) and let it overwrite with mine. Why the renaming to the SL Voices didn't work, I don't know. The should. But I darkly remember I the same issue. Maybe it depends on the encoding, 'cause I have replaced some of them in my installation and they work. I saved the files for 19 Human JGTen in 16 Bits PCM. Maybe I used 24 or 32 Bits for (some of) the others. I don't remember, more than a year passed a year since I did them.

So, I got curious and made a quick example with files from set 8, cause that's the set I'm using for my PC. I have attached it, so just give it a try. It does work, it's far from being perfect and I haven't tested it much. Also there are no files under greeting. I also attached the structure of "PC Head Tracking and Voice Type". Feel free everyone to use my files to make your own compilations. Just copy and paste the files into the folders and rename them to 01, 02, 03, 04, 05. sshar22 Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Good try on the PCHTVT, I am quite lousy with audacity, so my sounds are not on similar pitch but it is quite fun to experiment with it for example i have the sitting sounds with very short startled breaths (as she often has dd plugs inserted) the getting hit sound as pleasure (masochist) the getting healed as "ouch" (still a masochist) ? the magic casts as a giggle as mana usage is arousing the riding as near orgasm ones (remember the dd plugs?) the fighting as a bit clumsy overextended oooh mhhh (SLS DFC SLR mod settings concept) thanks for your try Cheers
Tops34 Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 Changed the description and added a link to my replacement mod for the female voices that are shipped with SL.
VIGIIGIV Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Is there a plan to add male voices? The original onces are so dull ?
Aki K Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 I see there are updates. Are the updates included in the all in one?
Tops34 Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 No, the changes of set 8 are not yet included in the AIO. Edit: done

Krynn Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Can't you just put it all together in one file?

Operand Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Since there's no chance of getting support in the original mod thread, I'll give it a shot here. Any ideas why the game goes CTD if I try to save with the PC voice set to any of the Nusbie added sets? Here's what I have: The voices work just fine. I can select them and they work. Both original Nusbie and the replaced ones (from here) No issues with animations, everything works normally If I try to save the game when PC's voice isn't set to Nusbie one, it works If I try to save it with PC's voice set to Nubsie one, it CTD (what's good: it does so all the times, so there must be some reason for it) In general: stable build (no CTDs since the very beginning of the run, ~5 days of playtime on the clock). Albeit there are a lot of mods (sporting F6 as the last load order index) I just fail to see what can it be from the mod PoV that can make it CTD with such stability And yep - I fully realize that it's not this replacer issue. Just calling out if there are some ideas because I like the voices here waaaaay better than default ones, but to have them on a somewhat long run basis would mean switching back-n-forth before saving every time which... isn't very convenient.
