Fuckity fuck fuck....

Dunno how, but a lot of files in my NV data folder got corrupted... possibly the huge number of mods I have that get updated very frequently has something to do with it... and the back-ups of the data folder show the same problem.

I was planning on a nice long play, fucking about, being a fuck-toy for the Legion and helping them enslave the Mojave... but now I'm facing a few hours downloading the game (again) then installing all the mods in the right order (again) then testing the stuff to make sure it all works properly (again) before I can have any fun... :(

What a waste of an evening. :@

Still, it means I get a nice fresh install to test mods on that isn't just a clone of a vanilla install... should get rid of all the little foibles my game had. :)

Ow, been there, done that....

All I can say is keep backing up the whole NV folder regularly or at least when you have your favorite setup sorted.

I'm going to backup mine again today before I try install BNB & MCM :)

Yup, and its for that reason I do what I can to secure a hard copy of Dethesda games, because at some point something is going to kill the install and I too would lose my mind re-downloading and installing.

You have my sympathies for your lost evening.

Don't let it get to ya too much, cause like you said, with a fresh new install comes new oppurtunies to try out new mods!

Typical "Bethesda" game lifespan. All their games work okay until you get to level 7-8 of your character, then the whole f'n thing corrupts and you have to start all over again.

This must be their sick dememted twisted idea of "replayability"...

You never get to the end of the damned game because you have to reinstall every month.

Once my install corrupts I'm going to delete and move on to another game.

I only loaded FONV because my Oblivion install corrupted.

When the FONV install corrupts I'm loading up "Bionic Commando 2010"

I'm so sick of Bethesda crap-games. If it wasn't for xLovers I wouldn't even bother with their $#!+ coded games.

:@

EDIT: And no...I will NOT be buying "Skyrim"....Bethesda can get on all fours and lick my brown skyRIM for all I care!

lol no no bro, it only does that if you install anything not mushroom stamped by bethesda. i managed to beat fo3 and oblivion vanilla just fine... add any mods and the game goes down like a two cap hooker.

Yea that is a lesson often learned the hard way. My Vegas install is game backed up (not that I'm really using a lot of mods) but my Oblivion install is a little over 2 years old now and I'm scared to death of h aving to reinstall it. Its not going to hold up much longer though. Its like watching a towering, single column of bulding blocks teetering in the wind.

Its only a matter of time.

Unfortunatly, when the time does come... I has no real backup for it. Some custom esps and thats it. Fresh reinstall from step 1.

That's going to suck hairy-yak-nuts.

My heavily modded FO3, NV and Oblivion games are a great deal more stable than the vanilla versions ever were. It is not the mods that make it so but the tweaks and tools that the mod scene cranks out!

Now don't get me wrong I have never been disappointed with the vanilla versions! When they came out I loved each and every one! However looking back to the vanilla after having used all of the mods fine mods out today is unacceptable....I just can't fathom NV without nVamp anymore! :)

Edit: Autosaves and quicksaves game corruption has been a consistant occurance from Oblivion right up through NV. Manual saves are the only way to avoid it (unless using streamline or CASM).

If you have 7zip installed, something that I do is create a 'store' archive of the directory every so often, with 2 backups. It's only about 20gigs and if one goes bad I have something that I know works. 7zip doesn't support batch files to make archives, winrar does if you're any good at that. But it's always an option.

Streamline and CASM saved both my games.

I could never get past level 10 on either of them without those mods...

Plus, they're just goddamn convenient. No more "oops I accidentally hit quicksave and now I can never go back to any point before now" business. Having multiple previous saves to choose from makes everything easier and safer.

No kiddin!

I think they should have mods like these built into every game...without corrupting things!

While I agree.....I don't think that ANY of us will ever live to see it happen! :(

Off Topic: I don't mean to make light of the real reason that this thread was started but I like posting here just because of the thread's name......is that wrong?????? :)
