Fnis/GSPoses Problem?

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble using GSPoses on Skyrim SE, the pose selector isn't playing the poses at all and I wonder if this is the problem

Spoiler

This is a warning on my FNIS, I don't know if this is serious or I'm most likely an idiot. I use NMM. I'm mostly just trying to get GSPoses working and if this isn't the problem I don't know what the problem would be.

Do you start FNIS from ModManager? Try booting from the Tools folder specified in the path you mentioned earlier. If it is not there, then you will have to reinstall it, perhaps manually.
Extrat Fnis zip, open data folder / copy all and drop into skyrim data folder (active plugin) and launch

what's the complete file path to the generatefnisforusers.exe? Make sure you're not installing it wrong with additional folders in between.

K so the install path seems okay (something easy to see if you've share the whole fnis log instead of the warning line, but ok). Do you have a Windows account with admin rights? FNIS shouldn't have issues if you run it as an admin, you can always force it by going to properties for the executable and enabling the "Run as admin" setting in the Compatibility tab. Installing things in the default Program Files can also lead to programs not working as expected. Running the executable as admin and disabling the UAC could solve your issue (although the best approach would be move your whole Steam install outside of Program Files).

By moving My Steam install do you mean putting the "Steam" folder out of "Program Files (x64)" and then into "Program Files" ?

No, moving it from a Program Files folder to another Program Files folder won't make any difference. Both Program Files are default folders where system permissions are a bit tricky and are (likely) the cause for issues like yours. Fore even mentions this in the mod description because there has always been a good amount of users reporting issues related to that install path. And it's usually recommended to avoid using that folder to install anything related to Skyrim or mods.

You would need to relocate your Steam install/Library. There is a procedure to do so explained here. But you must be 100% sure you know what you're doing, because your whole Steam will change file paths, so it can (and will likely) affect other games. I'm not even sure if this will solve your issue, as I've never had Steam or any mod installed in Program Files. And usually when people get that error or similar ones is due to a bad install path, which I don't think it's your case (but still the fact that FNIS cant' detect your game version or isn't listing any of the mod providing animations is weird).

It is listing my mods in the log, I just thought that wasn't necessary to show. Well then, I guess I'll have to change file paths. Wish me luck.
