Taddstrange Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 For those that are unaware I'm making a custom accessory appendage in the "hat" category for female sims. I have figured out how to properly UV map and assign the part to the correct bone group but for some reason sims 4 studio is giving me grief in the meshing process. For some odd reason it keeps printing the entire sim body mesh on the new accessory appendage and I have no idea why. I tried uploading a mesh using an online color map but sadly this didn't resolve the issue. I need to know how to make the new appendage one solid color, I don't need a complicated map or mesh just a solid color will do. I need this change to only affect the appendage no other part of the sim's body. If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it please le t me know. Photos of the issue in game and in the editor as well as my blender file are below. Any help is appreciated. ProbottomHatPleaseWork-3.blend
modella Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 I took a look at it and with my understanding it seems like the issue could be with the UV Map? The way it's placed, it's covering the entire UV, so it will pick up the texture of the entire sim body: You would need to scale it down and place it in the region of your choosing: I'm not great with Blender (I namely use MilkShape because I'm used to it) so I'm not sure how explain how to actually do this Blender ;___; but I know it is possible. But I've added the appendage (it looks really nice!) with the edited UV as an Obj and also a handy dandy color guide! I use it to help me with UV mapping things. Spoiler I also found a couple of tutorials on UV Mapping that might help too ProbottomHatPleaseWork-3.obj
Taddstrange Posted July 29, 2020 Author Posted July 29, 2020 Thank you so much!!! Finally I can finish the appendage! I really appreciate it! Would it be ok to message you if I have additional questions?
Kritical Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 You should familiarize yourself with the UV guide modella posted and stick to it religiously, above all else. Dont use the hat slot unless you are actually making a hat or you have no other option. Just about everyone uses it because its easy texture space and because of that it has the most conflicts out of any place you can choose to place your textures.
Julie J Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 One other thing - anything within that region on the body. The bone assignments need to be assigned to the pelvis.
