IPSEC Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 I was constantly getting CTD during Companions quest line everytime i tried to enter in Whiterun or Jorrvaskr. I spent over 10 hours trying different solutions found around the web and nothing worked. I decided to start skyrim from the normal launcher and for some reason it no longer crashed. After i managed to finally complete the quest line i was no longer getting any errors/ game freezing/ CTD . So naturally, i tried to relaunch the game as usual, from SKSE. It was completely stable. Game is stable now but the MCM is no longer registering some mods. I am using MCM kicker and i remember getting a message saying that MCM registered 31 menus. Now i am only getting 24 instead of 31. Mods are still active but i do not have the menu to make any changes. The only mods i noticed missing so far are Schlongs of Skyrim which has like, Immersive Wrenches, Sounds of Skyrim ( has like 3 menus), Immersive Armors,Realistic Animals and Predators. There might be one or two more but i not really sure which. If i start/load a new game, for another character, all the mods register and work properly, 31 mods total. If i load my level 34 character i only have 24 active mods and i don't know what to do to make them register/work again. For instance i tried reinstalling Schlongs of Skyrim, it works but the menu is not showing up in MCM. Which is why i don't really think that reinstalling the other mods such as Sounds of Skyrim, Immersive Armors, etc will be of any help since there is an issue with registering the menu. I tried using resaver, no good. Also setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1 doesn't change anything, still 24 out of 31. Reinstalled SKSE and SKY UI, still the same. Any suggestions ?

Your basic problem, as I understand it, is CTD near Whiterun . Apparently you have an incompatible mod, or missing some mandatory requirement

Keep a copy of your save somewhere, uninstall your mods, open the game (with SKSE please) and try to load that save, it should warn you about a bunch of missing plugins. Make a new save and exit the game (if you can get to load that save that is). Clean that last save with Fallrim Tools. Then try to reinstall your mods again. And don't play the game without SKSE again, it doesn't sound like a great idea, it is not a great idea. If your main issue was a crash you should have put effort into solving that, not hijacking your way into the game using the vanilla executables.

Game was completely fine until then. Everytime i tried to enter Jorrvaskr i was getting CTD. Teleporting inside with coc worked but then it started to crash in Whiterun. I completed the quest using console. After i finished the quest line it was fixed. Trust me i spent way too much time trying to figure out. I guess i could have asked for help on forums/reddit but i was really upset and ran out of patience, which is why i tried to fix the game by getting rid of the quest with console commands. Now i realize it was a dumb thing to do but it is what it is.
Dorabella Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 It would be useful to load ( use LOOT for optimize load order ) the mods , and the FNIS report, even if the problem seems to have been circumvented, it is not excluded that it will recur. Have you by chance installed any fixes? Bug fix - Crash fix- Safety Load fix- Brawl bug- and/or any other fix could be useful?

It seems strange to me that this is Loot's load order, it usually puts the DLC on top and immediately after USLEEP . The problem could be due to the wrong loading order, or from the deactivated DLC.
Just Don't Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Did you tried what I wrote before? As you're using MO you don't need to uninstall anything, just disable the mods in the left panel. Make a manual copy of your save before doing anything if you're so worried about it.

Right ? I tried disabling Sounds of Skyrim and SOS, before i loaded the game i got the message with ddl missing and then it crashed to desktop. If i re-enable it wont crash. I am not sure how to deal with it. Maybe i should just uninstall. Problem is that each one of those mods has a few patches so it will take some time until i re-download all the patches and put them all together so i can reinstall properly. I'll try again tomorrow.

You don't need to remove the mods from your computer to remove them... just disable it in the left panel before trying to launch the game. But as I see you can't load your save with some mods disabled I don't see the point trying to follow that path. I seriously don't know how one would go about to fix something like this. I've never had to use Fallrim tools for more than checking or cleaning some stuff after a mod removed mid-playthrough.
IPSEC Posted July 6, 2020 Author Posted July 6, 2020 So i managed to successfully reinstall most of the mods, at least those that were missing from MCM menu. There might be other mods inactive but i cannot tell since they don't have a menu integrated in game. But it's fine, i dont mind. I am happy that it's stable for now. The only one i am having issues with is Schlongs of Skyrim. Game won't run if it's missing/uninstalled. I get CTD everytime i try to load my save.
Just Don't Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 SOS has an uninstall function in the MCM, so I guess it must disable/remove stuff before removing the mod from your mod manager. Bad luck.
IPSEC Posted July 6, 2020 Author Posted July 6, 2020 Yeah, I've read about that in mod description. Tried this one as well, didn't work though. Spoiler Launch the game. Load your saved game. Get the player to an interior cell (Player House's are ideal for this, since there are no respawns). Save the game in a new slot. Quit the game. Uninstall all SOS related Addons. Launch the game. Load the last saved game. Wait in real life, for about 5 mins. Save the game in a new slot. Quit the game. Launch the game. Load the last saved game. Save the game in a new slot. Quit the game. From this point forward, its safe to install the new version. Future versions will probably not require this procedure unless we have a major redesign in the mod structure (probably means that will only happen on v3.x). After installing, load the last saved game.

IPSEC Posted July 11, 2020 Author Posted July 11, 2020 I have been using MCM kicker the whole time. I managed to fix it , i think. I reinstalled all the mods that were missing, re-applied compatibility patches, re-did wyre bash and cleaned the save file. I didnt get a single CTD so far except for 2 freezes but is what it is, even if i want to fix or investigate the source of the cause i wouldn't know how. .net script framework is not generating logs for them. Regarding the mods, the only one i can't get to show up in MCM is Schlongs of Skyrim, it works but i just cannot access the menu.
