Locksoli Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 So, I just started a modded playthrough with skyrim after not playing it for quite some time, and I added a few new mods and replaced some others to be up to date with any new hot mods and the like. My strategy is to wait until I'm out of Helgen or at Riverwood before saving to activate all my plugins. This means that I have a clean save I can go back to when I encounter a problem early on (so far, a bug with merchants not moving/opening their shops, which I basically fixed by singling out the mod through only loading one at a time). Now I have a new issue, and it's a crash to desktop constantly after trying to load from any save, clean or otherwise. I haven't been able to single the mod out yet, so I've been wondering if I can get help here. I've checked all of the mods I have installed, and they shouldn't be conflicting with each other, but I want to be sure. Since minidump is a Microsoft format, on Windows I just use Visual Studio or WinDbg directly. On Linux, I use minidump-2-core and then I load the generated coredump into gdb. And no, you don't get addresses to mods, unless the mod is a SKSE plugin and the crash happened within its image. Papyrus scripts get virtualized and run inside the PapyrusVM, which makes it much harder to find a Papyrus script execution through machine code. If the crash happened in TESV.exe (most common case) and the crash address is not known, you will have to attach a debugger to your game and breakpoint that address. See what it does by reverse-engineering the machine code and what calls that code. If the code's nature still remains illusive, you will have to go through the stack and see if you can identify pieces of data stored within or go through the heap if the code in question is storing/loading onto/from the heap. 47 minutes ago, Locksoli said: I found it, made a new one for today. This function is called inside another function which seems to be parsing the save file (could find my save file info in the call stack). Other than that, I have no clue what it does, in my case, "this" always points to the same object, both parameters of the function are passed as 0 and "this+0x0C" is always 5. I can tell you the function that is returning null seems to have been designed with returning null under certain cases, so it might be possible to patch the crash out. Try the attached Cheat Engine table. Install Cheat Engine if you don't have it. Double click the attached file to launch it with Cheat Engine. Launch the game. Once the game reaches the main menu, go back to Cheat Engine and attach Cheat Engine to TESV.exe (Skyrim). Activate the "Loading Crash Test Fix" entry. Try loading your save. Guest Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 This is just something to test my theory, it shouldn't be considered a proper fix. Your crash might even be related to save corruption, where the callee has a defined behavior for an unexpected value but the caller does not. I don't know if there are side effects for doing what I did or if this "fix" is just adding a bandaid to a gunshot.

The only other problem I'm having is the "npcs/merchants not moving and opening their shops" glitch, but I singled enhanced dragon aspect out as the cause of that...for some reason.
