Is modifying skeletons in Nifskope manually fine?

(I'm not sure I located the correct category)

I've found this yesterday.   (To those who don't want to click links: 'Janky Slider' mod, a Racemenu based custom slider mod)

Changing character's body ratio is interesting to me.

But that's a Racemenu based mod, and I use ECE (,not Racemenu), so I cannot use it.

So I'm going to try modifying skeleton file in Nifskope, manually..

Is it possible? If I do that, will any issues happen?

If someone knows about that or already did, any advices are fine. = )

This topic goes more to a Technical support thread.
You can modify skeleton.nif indeed, with all the skin rigged data with it.
So if you import any object rigged to this modded skeleton, skin data will deform to bone data also. When you will export object with this modded data it will be permanently rigged to deformed data. It is not advised to do so, there will be consequences because of it.
I dropped ECE because of wrong scale data mapped to bones, RM is better in this regard and has supported tri morph data as variations to modify skeleton bones.

(So I've come into the wrong place. Again. T -T)

I'm sticking to ECE because there is no methods that I can bring my character's complete CME data to Racemenu(RM).

I know that RM has also ex-/importing vertex data feature.

But everytime when I decide to change my char's appearance, I have to go back to ECE, to customize. (Since RM copied only vertex data(mesh), but not entire customized one.)

.. seems like I have no choice if I want to use some new feature. T ^T

Anyway, the conclusion is "Sure you can, but NOT recommeneded.", right?

OK, thank you for your advice!

Now I should check if ECE and RM can be installed together..

Racemenu has the CME\ECE plugin features build in for support. Check the manual for RM.

ECE also has its own head with different topology than RM now.

When I was initially playing around with the Shortstack Pack gnome skeleton in ECE, ECE kept resetting it to default/human scales, so I wouldn't hold out much hope for custom skeletons working properly with ECE.
