Shantotto Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 New Vegas is one of my favorite games ever, and in my opinion very worthy of the Fallout name. That said, one of few things that bothered me about the game (and many others I think) is that some areas feel quite empty and devoid of content. So, I was thinking that maybe we could brainstorm a bit. Talk a bit about what areas you wish had had more content, and then come up with Sexout inspired ideas that could fit in in these ideas. It could be full quest ideas, just side-characters to interact with or even just "aftermath" content where you find corpses and their logs (classic RPG style). Just whatever as long as it's "adult-oriented" so to speak. Maybe these ideas could eventually be turned into mods and if not, at least it's always good to use our imagination right? Do note that there are already threads that discuss more specific things (like the SexoutBribes threads). This is more of a catch-all thing. A) For example, I always wanted to see more adult content in Freeside in particular. I really like the overall feel of the area but I think it's a bit lacking in the seedy department. Specifically, the two prominent powers in the area are the Followers and The Kings. The Followers are obviously the good guys, but even the Kings is pretty good as far as gangs go. There are two main "side-areas" in Freeside that are fairly empty. First one being the area around the Cerulean Robotics factory and the other being the side-street where you follow the bodyguard when doing GI Blues. Also, the area where you find Santiago (and the destroyed building nearby) could also be filled up. It'd be cool to find some seedier elements here, small-time drug-pushers maybe an occasional pimp and whore a'la New Reno. Maybe some thugs threatening the player (like the 3 thugs in the alley). Plus, I always thought it'd be nice if these low-life elements were a bit more prominent at night. Another more general thing I wanted was more life in the areas just outside New Vegas. The areas where you find the Hoestetler Residence among other things. Again, maybe some small houses could be opened up here with some sinister things inside. Possibly walk in and find some Fiends raping someone (one NCR NPC mentions them just snatching people from their homes in the middle of the day), some junkies pissed off that you just barged into their home, maybe an elaborate trap (like that one house where the Fiends ambush you when you get out) but with sexi-time instead if you happen to fall into the trap.
Guest Loogie Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Something I wanted to do, though I don't have the scripting ability, is make a mod that uses one of the bigger random buildings out in the country that has no current use. Living in there would be a gang comprised of a smart super mutant leader, 3 ghouls and 2 ugly human males. They make their living by kidnapping girls (in this case, the player and any female companions), breaking their will and turning them into sex slaves, then selling them to the Legion. My plan is fucked up and detailed enough I may just write another one of my Ramblings posts.
dogface Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Have you considered making a quest-obtained player-house that's more like a mini-settlement? Three lore-fitting themes spring to mind... a) A gang tenement ; In Freeside/Westside/Northside Modelled after the Casa Madrid/The Gray/the Scorpions hangout, the player could recruit refugees, junkies and other wasteland scum into his or her own gang. The lower levels could be open to the public with features such as a brothel, a cheap groghouse, tattoo parlour, a shooting gallery/crashhouse, and some sort of extremely low-rent minicasino or caravan gaming house, with the upper rooms being dedicated living space for your gangsters, as well as having features such as a locked armoury, drug lab/booze still, your own personal office and bedroom. In true Fallout spirit, your gang should take on a distinctly Greaser theme. A slave plantation ; In Eastside/Outer Vegas Modelled after the Hostetler farmhouse, or any of the dozens of unfortunately inaccessable farmsteads scattered around outer vegas. Features could include a nice farmhouse for the player with a small (enslaved) domestic staff, a bunkhouse for some Mice'and'Men style farmhands/gunmen, and another bunkhouse for slaves. Not to mention the obvious ; a cornfield, some rows of outdoor cactus planters, an indoor growroom for the more delicate crops, a pasture for milkable bighorners or brahmin, a cage-kennel for dogs and perhaps another for molerats. In true Fallout spirit, it should take the theme of the tobacco plantations of the pre-bellum South. c) A tribal village ; In... Utah? The player becomes revered as a God-King by a village of isolated tribals, and sets themself up as a high chief, with a longhouse player-home, a cadre of dedicated tribal bodyguards, and dozens of minions living in huts around it. Features could include sending out bands of hunters or scavengers, slaving parties and raiding parties. And of course, the player determining the social structure of the tribe... since you can hand down heavenly decrees, you can decide whether a race or gender becomes elevated to the highest caste of the tribe, and whether another should be denegrated to the status of slaves or dogs. I can't make cells and worldspaces for the life of me, and I can't do meshes and textures, but if anyone took a project like this on I'd script the hell out of it for them.

Mind if I steal this idea and try to make the interior in question?
dogface Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Please do it. Mind if I join you on the project? I wouldn't mind doing some of the scripts/features/quest stuff.
zippy57 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Please do it. Mind if I join you on the project? I wouldn't mind doing some of the scripts/features/quest stuff.I wouldn't mind at all. I'll start by doing the basic area; just the rooms and basic furnishing, no clutter or anything.
jbezorg Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Fallout NV. The Fiend's side of the story. Raiding Westside for slaves going through through the sewers. Burning, raping & looting ( Sometimes in that order. Brahmin are not exempt. ) caravans with lasers. Bethesda actually has dialogue with some of the fiends from vault 3 (Cook-Cook, Nephi, & Violet) that was removed from the base game. Playable Raider dash Fiend plus Trait Raider PipBoy and more
gubnillec Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 There are quite a few mods that already re-pop the wasteland.....re-populated wasteland or populated casinos being two of the most popular ones. It could be fairly easy to mod those mods to add more content.
Phelps1247 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Could probably put a strip club somewhere. The people that made the Desert Succubus were supposed to have a spa/resort thing but I guess they never made it. One with flashy lights maybe from the Tron mod or taken from one of the bigger casinos.
zippy57 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 a) A gang tenementAttached to this post is the plugin with a very basic layout of the area, as well as an annotated screenshot showing what the individual rooms are intended to be. If you need to get into the cell in-game, type "coc 57TeneCellMain" into the console. This is a very basic layout, with basically no furniture and no way into the cell in normal gameplay. If you need me to add either of those to script it, I will do so.
Rellim Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 @zippy57 and @dogface a) A gang tenement just wanted to put my thoughts out there, the kings are already based off a kinda of greaser look(The King), like the tunnel snakes. maybe you could use there name if greaser is the look you want, but what different looks like of geeks that use modified lasers or more appropriately to face the kings("greasers") Jocks could be a possibility. But if you did use the greaser look i think the tunnel snakes would be a good gang to use you port the clothing from F3, the hair is already standard i think. you could also try to port the tunnel snake leader the one from vault 101 i fogot his name. like you could meet him in freeside or the actual building and he gives you a quest or quests to raise caps to build the building more like upgreading it to have furniture for the different rooms. or to start hireing new members. I know these would be a long time in the future but jusst wanted to throw it out there.
Guest Loogie Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 What I did in SexoutPowder.esp and plan on doing in SexoutNCR.esp is putting usable doors on empty buildings that lead to new story-important cells.
ChancellorKremlin Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 This would, unfortunately, conflict with mods like FNV Interiors, which basically repopulates the wasteland with interiors to buildings which are sealed up or inaccessible otherwise. I don't suppose there is any easy way to overcome this?
nightdweller7 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 This would' date=' unfortunately, conflict with mods like FNV Interiors, which basically repopulates the wasteland with interiors to buildings which are sealed up or inaccessible otherwise. I don't suppose there is any easy way to overcome this? [/quote'] Well unless you create new doors and avoid editing the same navmesh square it can be hard to avoid conflicts with other mods, This is why I prefer to make bunker or basement mods that can be placed just about anywhere within reason, I have a bunker in Goodsprings that uses a Chameleon Stealth Door that looks like a rock! Yes I know it sounds crap but why not, also it saves editing the landscape and it's supposed to be a secret in the first place. So I'm not limited to doors and I have used walls before so it depends on your imagination what the limitations are.

I don't suppose there is any easy way to overcome this? [/quote'] No real way to avoid conflicts with that. It is my belief there are relatively empty wilderness areas and boarded up buildings because Obsidian hoped modders would use them. Personal preference on my end, but I'd rather have mods add gameplay to interiors than have a mod that makes a bunch of empty buildings.
Guest Loogie Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I don't know who locked this or why, but it's back open.
sen4mi Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 If anyone actually cares about FNVInteriors, I think they should: 1. Put the Sexout esp files in their load order after any others, and 2. from FOMM, start up FNVEdit, and 3. in FNVEdit, right click on the mod list and select "Create Merged Patch", and 4. save that plugin using some reasonable name, and 5. make that plugin be active and the last thing in their load order. I *think* that this should work. (But I do not care enough about FNVInteriors to try this for myself.)
ChancellorKremlin Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 @nightdweller7 Indeed, at the end of the day mods that did that would make it easier, but then it wouldn't be realistic now would it, if every entrance to every building/location was a hidden rock or manhole lol? @ Loogie I don't have a problem with the mods, they actually make the wasteland worth exploring again. True, most of the times it's empty loot buildings with some loot, but there are times in certain buildings where they have major items being house. The good thing is that the mods are regionalised, ie NV Interiors CottonWoodCove, NV Interiors Westside, etc etc etc. Which means I can selectively chose which to run and which to not. What I would just do is not run both theirs and your's at the same time, ie I would get whatever items they have first, and then load your plugin over theirs, and carry on from there. "No big whoop" as they say.
KainsChylde Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I'm with Loogie, I'd rather add interesting content than empty treasure boxes. Loot is great and all, but I want to earn it. One thing I would love to see is something done with the Vipers and Scorpions. You encounter random groups periodically, but other than the crappy little 95 encampment, they don't have a base. Also, why are so many of the vipers named "Viper Gunslinger" yet rarely do they actually carry guns? That always bugged me.
