Night~Sky Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 MonsterMod contained intellectual property from a few different animes/games (including a certain MMO whose developer is a massive buttrag, who caused the whole debacle). And yes, to put it as simply as I can, the back-end code for the Nexus site not only censors the name of this place, but flags the post containing it to alert the moderators (the name of this place isn't the only word/word combination that does it, though - loli does too, for example).
Rayblue Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 What? Monster Mod contains some Lady Gaga tracks or what? This is so weird, well, every piece of mod that people creates belongs to Bethesda, and until financial requests or trades happens, it is all okay. Take a look at Youtube, it is full of copyright material! Of course, if the author of music contacts Youtube they will remove, but this is only a mod! Who cares at all, and getting mods work is much more different than clicking a few at a web page. Im not persuaded. Perhaps if you can detail MM a bit. Reading the details back then, that mod got flagged because the Nex employees claimed they found in MoMod a piece of texture or two coming from a machine gun of a certain popular FPS franchise, but I found it to be a rather absurd accusation that such a texture be used in a creature mod. Yes, as long as the money rolls in, they'll like you if you keep saying nice things to them in their world, but if you bring out what they hate or anything that could affect their credo, they'll shoot first then ask questions later. No ifs, no buts, they'll just shoot down.
HanPL Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Soon with that kind of policy they will start to ban people who even have one line of script from someone else work.
Northern Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Well, Nexus obviously not the best site for adult content, LoversLab is better with miles. Im so happy because now we are even bigger than the russian Gamesource. I don't care too much towards Nexus anyway, ill visit their site when i need some weather change, or shorter grass, or else. Not to mention Steam workshop more suitable already.
HanPL Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I think best way to coupe with Nexus if you use it is just to keep low profile. Get what you want and and stay quiet. Best way to avoid problems.
Northern Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I think best way to coupe with Nexus if you use it is just to keep low profile. Get what you want and and stay quiet. Best way to avoid problems. I've been never raised a word against anything on Nexus, inversely, i like the option to honor with my recommandation (or something no idea what is the name atm) those who work hard to shape out a mod for the public, to entertain others for free. And i feel unfair when someone gets banned from it because the mod he/she made like Tojo's Dragons differs from one or two man's ideology. I remember when i spent hours to undertand the russian modder forums like GameSource to find the material that Nexus prohibited for some reason. I no longer need to do it, im happy to be here at the best place. I just can hope that good work will not disappear without traces because of Nexus, and those resentful modders will find us here.
HanPL Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 and those resentful modders will find us here Pretty sure that's what Nexus don't want to happen Imagine if we could just post on Nexus forum "Hey Nexus removed your work or banned you ?"Come to LL no one will bother you here and you can create mods in peace " Soon half on Nexus would be empty
polluxval Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 and those resentful modders will find us here Pretty sure that's what Nexus don't want to happen Imagine if we could just post on Nexus forum "Hey Nexus removed your work or banned you ?"Come to LL no one will bother you here and you can create mods in peace " Soon half on Nexus would be empty I have the same user name in Nexus and here (and email), so I'm pretty sure they know I'm subscribed on both places, but I say to them: and even if they ban me on Nexus just by expressing myself here, then that would be bullshit. Anyway, I don't condone what they are doing regarding moderation, but I can symphatize with them, copyright issues got a critical state after the Megaupload charade. So, I can understand (atleast somehow) why they are so paranoid.
HanPL Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I also have the same user name here and Nexus so far I was able to post without problems here. Best thing is I still have link to my blog in signature which is obviously leads to LL but they can't do anything about it since signature itself don't break any rules ^^
Endiness Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Just read the last 2 weeks of bans, and they all look reasonable to me except one, but that got appealed. Just reread terms of service and they're isn't anything in there about formal warnings and strikes, so it's not something they have to do. If I remember correctly the strike system they use to have only applied to the forums, not to the mod or uploaded image section.
dark0nex Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Your Group Members could have simply not been changed. On the Anime/Hentai Forum I moderate/admin I can ban someone without changing their group, but I usually change the group to banned. (don't look at me like that, they're spam bots) As for Nexus, I always hear all sorts of stories like this, and others. So I just don't ever post or participate. I just roam, and download. That's it. If something doesn't work, I just abandon it. Now if you're a modder, that strategy might not work so well. But I love you MODS EVERYONE!!! even if I'm silent about it. I guess in your case you'll want to check out more official and none official rules and behaviors before you start posting again. Or do like me, just look & dl.
But I'm okay. Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Man, I ain't got a whole heck of a great deal of sympathy for Nexus. Due to their advice, I ended up wasting $40 USD on new equipment to fix a problem that the new equipment did not in fact fix. I dig that y'all aren't like that, though.

Why do you name your account after the admin of the Nexus? Not so popular here.
VictoriaG Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Sounds more like a technical issue with the site than a ban, what is your username there?
Rayblue Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Nex acknowledges that there were some downtime problems. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/news/307/
Cezul Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Just a rool of thumb guys: Loverslab is kind of like Fightclub ( as far as the Nexus is concerned ) 1. Don't talk about LL. 2. Don't talk about LL! 3. Did I mention not talking about LL? Oh and when it comes to posting screenshots, i wouldn't post any outfits/armor/hair/weapons that can't be found on the Nexus. ( Also I wouldn't post kawaii lolis either )
Rayblue Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 As far as screenshots are concerned, the only mods mentioned in some of my screenies are the ENBs I used. Otherwise, most of them have no description (and thus spurring users to do some Googling).
simresidentmmo Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 http://www.alwaysapirate.org http://www.hidemyass.com/ i did this once a few years back about a tv show website that went crap, the Mod of the forum was paid off by the tv company and then went totally paranoid and stated banning entire schools, colleges, even all of mexico and europe you should be careful using proxies cos some Mods may counter by carpet boming ips and banning entire regions of internet service

If the moderators recognize it, then it'll probably disappear. That's not to say that a lot stuff goes unnoticed . Newsea and Peggy pay hairs, and even images with stuff I'm sure would be on their blacklist still remain up there. Very inconsistent, but it's to be expected when no one is being paid to surf through image share.

Very inconsistent, but it's to be expected when no one is being paid to surf through image share. I'd rather play safe. I used some mods that are considered "illegal" in Nex (i.e. game-rip armor or weapons -- the most recent is the Crysis Predator bow I picked up a couple of days ago, via Dragonporn), so because of the regime what mods are blacklisted I don't show them in my gallery (this even includes Halo's Skyrim Academy).
hannibalektr Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I spent way more time supporting my mod there and am happy to be done with it. In my opinion the nexus doesn't deserve quality mods, and here is why; They have been known to serve up virus's, their site is sluggish or down quite often, they push flash advertisements on you, and they push a fee to get higher access controls that steam provides it's hard working mod authors for free. Because steam knows we are helping them sell their games and show it by supporting us. Nexus is owned, run and administered by a bunch of moronic idiots. Security and integrity are a real concern over there.Although it's been posted on their own front page, it seems they have been trying to cover it up as google searches don't yeild hardly any of the many reports over the years of the virus issues they've had. here is an article:http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/13568/article/skyrim-nexus-reportedly-compromised-by-malware-hack/The nexus is a small time operation run by small minded people, they just can't move with the industry, they monger control over their authors and don't let us express ourselves or moderate our own mods thread. It is my opinion that the nexus sites will someday be a thing of the past as they live in the past. They will never be able to support the gaming communities or it's authors as they deserve to be. We are the customers and the support, but they obviously feel otherwise. So in light of those issues and many other nexus short comings, moving forward you will only be able to download my mods on Steam.
