So in only a few short hours Sony will hopefully be announcing their next home console.  If you would like to watch the press conference then you're in luck because it'll be plastered all over Gamespot,  IGN and Gametrailers.

So far only a couple of pics of the dev controllers for the system have shown up.

Along with speculations that the system will stream games and be able to control the system via mobile devices.  I'm super excited to see what Sony has up it's sleeve for it's next system and if their online features will finally surpass Xbox Live.  Also I'm interested to see if they keep their pricing structure the same as they have it with having both a free online choice and Plus.

I'm sure the hardware will push out some awesome visuals,  but what would you like to see besides that?  What are you hoping to see from Sony this next console generation?

Streaming might work in Japan, but not in much of the world, least of all the US, where large chunks of the country lack broadband. Also sick of touch screens already.

But the biggest problem is having actual, worthwhile games on the system. There was nothing on the PS3 that made me want to buy one, so I don't have much, if any, hope for buying a PS4.

i dont know why but i find that picture.... mmmm... kinda fake.

The pics were taken from IGN which said they came from a ps4 development kit,  but just a little longer and we'll find out for sure!  :D

Even if not fake I find that thouchpad right in the middle very inconvenient , also can someone explain to me what they mean by streaming games ?

yea the same people that get fooled by the moded command and conquer generals screenshot pretending to be starcraft 2 (many years ago). They swear it was a real screenshot but some smartass was mocking them.

Wow not much to really be excited for.  Looks like a glorified PS3 with a few new vita options.  The new Killzone game looked great and that was about it for me.  Damn I was really hoping for more than that.

Not like this generation will be amazing or anything; the Wii U was playing catch up while Sony and Microsoft couldn't put out overly expensive machines, which in turn excluded any massive tech boosts.

I just want better quality games. The trend seems to be towards making the prettiest games you can and worry about actual gameplay/story second. Until developers lose their infatuation with super graphic effects I'll continually be disappointed by any future consoles... not really the console maker's fault but they aren't the problem. PS4 is a prettier PS3? Ok... what about the games?

Granted, Sony has direct control over their first party devs, but beyond that, they're just making the hardware. it's up to the other devs to make quality titles. So it's a bit unfair to somehow expect a console to somehow be responsible for a quality shift.

One could argue that Sony could deny them a license if they don't meet some absurd standard... but right now they're hemorrhaging money, so that would be a stupid idea. Plus, Sony already tried to control what games were made for their systems back in the days of the PS1, where they wanted nothing but 3D style titles. That, of course, fell to the way side pretty quickly when they realized how much money they would lose by devs jumping ship.

i just expect for low god damn prices. does sony think everybody lives on 1st class countries? i spent the same amount of $$ for a single game that could feed me for two weeks! thats insane! if they lower their prices ill glady became a sony mindslave.

It's a console.  Plain and simple.  Not friendly to mod authors who want to extend people's gameplay experiences, but friendly to game companies who thrive on mass production.  More than likely, they'll discover something wrong with during production, but ship it off anyway, and they'll have a whole bunch of consoles come back in to fix, they'll take well over a month to fix them and send them back, and they'll break again.  I'm sick of consoles.  Have been for years.  Honestly, the last REALLY good console I played was the Nintendo 64.  Nowadays it's all about licensing rights and pumping out cash cows, as opposed to making a really good game.  There are, of course, a few exceptions, games that raise the bar, where the devs REALLY try to push the gameplay experience, but those are few and far in between, and if they make sequels (Mass Effect), they end up totally fucking it up somewhere along the line.  I'll stick to my PC.  I'm done with consoles.  I have a PS3, and all I use it for now is Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon on Demand.

I won't get it. I still have my PS2 that I bought in 2003, it's still somehow working, that's good enough for me. When Sony finally wakes the hell up and realizes we don't care about social crap, we care about not having to shell out the money to buy each game in our library a second or third time (AKA make them backwards-compatible!), then I might.

Tbh I couldn't care less about all of these stupid gimicks that Sony is throwing out there (however it isn't just Sony doing this kind of thing). While I probably won't be getting the PS4, I want it to be really powerful so that when new multi-platform games are ported to the PC, they won't be held back graphically/technically and what not. I'm sick and tired of consoles holding back games due to their own damn limitations.

There will always be console limitations due to their lack of consumer upgrades.  PC has and always will be a better graphical power house because I can just go buy the best graphics card and install it.  I get what your saying though.  For me it would be nice if instead of releasing system after system and charging more than they are worth they would just make them upgradeable.

*points to the ghosts of 3 x-box 360's and the current PS3 whose blu ray drive will only play DVD's*

*points to the computer in the closet that he's never had ANY of those problems with and only replaced because it was time to upgrade*

I say again.  Fuck console.  Tools of cash cow farms.
