Dude500X Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Essentially you must put the file into a structure like so. Modname/Data/modfiles Its that simple . When done you must turn it into an archive then load it using NMM. Just thought I'd share this, saves alot of time troubleshooting if a LL mod goes bad. I think it would be good to is mod makers could make their zip,rar,7zip archives in a NMM readable format as well to make the mod installing process easier.
deathparade Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Sadly nobody here likes NMM since it's a tracking deviceBut we always appreciate help
srayesmanll Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Actually the "modname/data/modstuff" format is not necessary to install with NMM. By default, NMM will put anything in a zipped (rar, 7z, etc) archive in the data folder as a starting point. This is why you can't use NMM to install SKSE (goes in the main folder, not the data folder, although you could have NMM install the scripts...) So if you have a bare .esp/.esm/.bsa in a zipped folder, NMM (and I believe most other mod managers of the Wrye variety) will work fine. Even additional folders will work fine as long as the path from the data folder is correct. Not much really to do to make it "NMM ready". I've download esp attachments from here, manually zipped (7z really) without the "data/" or "modname/data/" folder, added the zipped file to the "Mod" folder of NMM and installed with no issues. Again, if there are additional folders, it's better to do the data/modstuff/etc (or the modname/data/modstuff/etc) format, but it is not required.
GameModsGuy Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Sadly nobody here likes NMM since it's a tracking device But we always appreciate help I'm sorry but I cannot live without my NMM, I actually load ALL of my mods I find on LL through it, just because I like to keep tabs of which mods I have "installed" and it's far easier to remove them without a bunch of back-ups of the original files (mostly nif, dds (kinda bugs the hell outa me)).

I'm only gonna say two words: mod organizer.

To go with a 3rd party one just seems like a way to be stubborn and sidestep something that already works .
PsychoMachina Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I dropped NMM ages ago because I got tired of errors when installing and uninstalling mods. I can't comment on the latest version of NMM because I use Mod Organizer. It gives you the option to login to Nexus, but is not required everytime you use MO. You can use the MO browser to browse a mod page and download and install mods. Mods are installed in their own folders and added to the game virtually which works exactly as if they were installed directly in the Data folder. You can install how many mods you want because of the Profile system that allows you to enable certain mods for each profile you create. If you simply love NMM then stay with it, but if you want more user control and features then try MO.

I've been wondering of a way to get something like that to work for NMM, like for serious play I'd like "most" of my sex mods disabled, and It could also help me swap out body types without remembering install orders as well... I may try it out just for that feature
DJSphinx Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Mod Organizer uses Profile's im using MO aswell ... and in truth i am not gonna stop using it lol i just make a new profile when i fancy starting a new character with certain mods installed, and it also leaves your real skyrim game folder clean with the exception of ENB's and SKSE. MO also makes it a little easier imo to isolate conflicts between mods
