Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/02/15/injuries-reported-after-meteorite-falls-in-russia-ural-mountains/ I wonder if this will get goverments to take asteroid defence seriously. Doubtful, but at least it wasn't Italy, they would have just thrown scientests in jail for not predicting it .
Ark of Truth Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 500 people injured and you make a joke out of it saying glad it's not Italy.............
Queen Bee Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I'm just waiting to see how many journalists blame this on global warming, or how many conspiracy nuts claim it was a missile explosion and the meteor story is just a coverup.
windpl Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 500 people injured and you make a joke out of it saying glad it's not Italy............. TBH there was no 500 ppl injured. It is 500 because it look better as head line. There was 500 ppl in blast wave area. http://youtu.be/L4jhGF_B56Q 46s
Ark of Truth Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Still doesn't change the fact that he is trying to make a joke out of something which can be life threatening.
Veta Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Actually " The Emergency Ministry says more than 500 people sought treatment after the blasts and that 34 of them were hospitalized." The fact that you go to the hospital doesn't mean you are injured.
ChancellorKremlin Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I think he meant "unlike Italy, where seismologists are arrested for making public statements that a traditionally earthquake prone area has little to no risk of having a life-threatening earthquake".
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Some people sure are eager to be offended, overly eager in fact.
leddis3 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I'm just waiting to see how many journalists blame this on global warming, or how many conspiracy nuts claim it was a missile explosion and the meteor story is just a coverup. Now that's just silly. It was obviously an alien craft exploding after one of the hillbillies they kidnapped got loose and got into the power core.
BruceWayne Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 TBH there was no 500 ppl injured. It is 500 because it look better as head line. There was 500 ppl in blast wave area. People weren't injured because of the meteorite itself. They were injured because the shockwave shattered all windows in its impact area and people got hit by glass.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 They'll probably blame Bill Nye, he said it would miss us by 15 minutes. Of course he didn't say it would miss anyone else. And aliens don't abduct Hillbillies, they go willingly for the anal probing. Do your research Now let us have a moment of silence, and guilt for all the jokes and I'm sure all the ones being worked on as we speak. Not making light of what happened, just this thread Well at least you didn't post a a picture from Schindlers List, because that would be crossing a line. Trust me, I've recieved a warning for that.
ChancellorKremlin Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 You've also received warnings for bringing up previous grievances in completely unrelated threads, which can be construed as drama. You've also been warned for that, twice. So I really would think (twice) about continuing to do that, if I were you.
LordJerle Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 There was something I read in an article at work during my lunch break that said some of the more traditional hardliners were claiming that it was a willing government coverup of a US weapons test gone awry or somesuch nonsense.

Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Some more news on the same topic: http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/02/16/nasa-backed-meteor-tracking-system-on-horizon/ Seems NASA is going to start 'tracking' meteors. I'll believe it when they actually do it, and do it right.
polluxval Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 if some meteor happend to land in mexico, it would be taken hostage by the cartels, and im pretty sure it would be duplicated.

Guest Plastrader Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Their estimates are quite worrying, that would naturally help the doomsayers.200 - 1000 years.50 to 100 million years. I tried to suppress the military vehicle nerd in me but I'm afraid I failed.9K22 Tunguska
