lurar Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 What features does the Legendary Edition ENB have that the Special Edition ENB doesn't? Other than presets. I'm pretty sure that LE ENB is better but I was wondering which features specifically it has that SE ENB doesn't have? I'm not really sure where to post this question, so I hope I'm in the right place. Hopefully you can understand my question. Thanks.

LE's ENBs are not updated as frequently.

But it feels like much higher quality ENBs are available for LE. I haven't seen any ENB I like as much as Snapdragon Prime (LE ENB) available on SE. Am I just wrong or have I just not been looking closely enough?

I use Bixie by HHayleyy and that gets updated regularly. Also a lot of the LE ENBs have been around for long time and don't really need updating. You could also factor in the effects of the lighting and weather mods.

Is ENB for LE more advanced/better/have more features? No. Are there many more ENBs designed for LE? Yes. I'm not sure if the shader code used in more advanced LE ENBs is compatible with the 64-bit game (it might be, I have no idea). You can always back things up and try it out on SE. Worst case scenario it crashes and you know what caused it. Restore and move on.

ENB PRESETS are not the same as ENB.

SE ENB can look good, but I have yet to see a SE ENB that looks as good as LE ENB or even better. The fact that SE always looks like someone smeared Vaseline all over the camera lens is one of the reasons I chose to stick to LE (though it certainly wasn't the only reason). 10 minutes ago, Seijin8 said: LE's ENBs are not updated as frequently. Being updated =/= being better, or at least not necessarily. If anything, we could argue the fact that SE is still being updated while LE isn't could point to LE being finished while SE still needs work put into it. 6 minutes ago, lurar said: But it feels like much higher quality ENBs are available for LE. I think I recall Boris mentioning that the different rendering pipeline in SE made it very difficult to implement the same effects as in LE and/or of the same quality, though I don't remember where right now so I guess this is a [citation needed].

ASlySpyDuo Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 At this point, I'm fairly sure that SE and LE ENBs are on same level on what shaders they support since individual weather support, subsurface scattering, parallax water etc. have been added in the past year (sure took their sweet time). Not sure about the state of parallax terrain though but I don't follow SE that closely and for the same reason I can't say that the are definitely on similar level. The availability and quality of said shaders is another matter completely, there's a reason why most of the presets on LE do not use Boris's default shaders, instead they include 3rd party ones like kingeric's 3D LUT support, McFly's DoF (though this one is on SE too) and so on. There's also the matter of the whole rendering pipeline of LE and SE being completely different, and at least my eyes do not agree with SE at all, no matter how much you try to pretty it up with postprocessing effects.

I took that to mean 'other than individual, as in this or that, presets'. IMO the primary concern of most users is what appears on the screen, the underlying gubbins is mostly hoodoo-voodoo. To put it another way, you can have the latest all-singing, all-dancing ENB binary with interstellar shaders but if your preset is shit, if your settings are wrong or your tweaks aren't great then what you see onscreen is shit. Similarly, many users use an old preset with an old ENB binary and have shit-hot visuals.
