[SOLVED] ActiveEffect on Follower lost on Cell change

I never noticed this, but I got a follower who has a Candlelight spell and whenever he casts it, in a dungeon fo example, it should stay active on him for 60 seconds. Well, it does not, not in every situation. For example if he casts it in an inn and we go outside but still inside the city, it's just fine and he has a Candlelight ActiveEffect on him. But if we go outside the city, he loses it no matter how much of the duration is left.

 

Is that something that is known? Do you know why it happens? Is there a way to prevent it? Could the loading screen have something to do with it (even if it loads in 2 seconds)?

Its how it is. Since forever. On Player things "stick". NPC are reset when you change area.

Yup. Your observation is correct.

 

Workaround: none really.

 

Oh, and this is one of the reasons for CTDs. Player is presistant, always there. But other things are not. Game engine may decided to just delete them and then re-create when needed. Gets ugly if mod is not aware of this. Mod does something with NPC, it works. Then game engine removes/resets NPC, and now mod wants to do something with NPC that is not longer there or is changed.

Hint: my skyrim crashes when I enter <insert area name>.

Take a look to my SexLabCumRegenerator 0.7.0 and read the description. I copy some parts:

 

The cum over my followers DISAPPEAR when cross a door with loading screen or make a small fast travel.

Not always but YES a lot of times.
If you have the same problem, and want a solution, this mod is for you.

 

Why make this mod?
Because appear to be a problem in the resource manager of the game. This problem is not exclusive to SexLab.
Can be related to video memory size (i only have 2g) or/and number of followers.
Enb Boost not solve the problem because i have it.
When the problem appear ALL the magic effect with timer over ALL NPC's disappear.
If you have the problem can verify it casting a calm spell over any follower, cross a door with loading screen and see the calm spell vanished before time expire.

 

Seems to be a problem related to resource ussage and we can make nothing for solve it, except develop a specific patch, because is not related to game configuration. The game release resources in each loading screen. If release the magic effect or not release it only depend of the resource manager of the game. Sometimes make it. Others times not make it.

Ah, well, that's a shame. I kind of expected it, but still.. Can't believe I never noticed it until now. Thank you.

So much for Bethesda games I guess.. :)

 

I wasn't aware you have this mod, thank you for letting me know, it already gave me an idea. I might implement some kind of recast for these situation in my mod, but unless there is a way to modify the duration, I'm afraid there is just no way to at least make it appear consistent.
