multiple copies of the modified STBL

those are auto generated stbls by s4s for every ingame language from the base english string table. be warned though, now all your modified lines appear in english for every user. if you don't plan to translate, you can delete the foreign string tables in s4s by selecting them then use the red [delete] button at the bottom.

That's odd, I thought I had already deleted these. It might be nice if I could add translations, but it would be better to rely on translations from native speakers than to just apply google translate. At any rate, I'm not sure why one worked and the other didn't aside from the instance ID used. But clearly Sims 4 Studio is a powerful tool, and I should look into it further because s4pe can't do everything. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction on these things.

The problem with the cooking and comedy channels is that they're needed for other things in-game.

However, it may be possible to create another version that operates on another channel. I'll look into this further, because what I'd really like to be able to do is create an entirely independent channel that doesn't rely on replacing others.

That's a great idea, korbe. I'll put the current version in the thread title and then update it when I release an update.

The next one will probably be in a few days.

That was exactly what I was going to say from the beginning.

"Can you make mod so that it works entirely independently, without replacing any of the channels?"

Sure, no problem, powergo. I enjoy adding fresh content while learning more about modding the game, and I'll have another revision with more clips up soon.

Based on what I see with CinErotiqueTV, which peco328 has been working on for a while, it may not be possible considering he offered options for replacing the channel of your choice, and created versions for each one. He has some very sophisticated code in his mod, so I'm thinking he would have done it if he could have and that he surely has a greater understanding of the internal workings of the game. Still, I'll do some research and try to determine if there's any way to do it, because it would be preferable to having to replace a channel, even if you get to choose which one.

I know there are mods and tools for creating additional menu entries, for instance. If one can be used with a customized channel playlist and perhaps mimic some traits of the other channels (such as buffs or animations) by copying the XML code over, then it might work. But it may require something more sophisticated than additional XML entries and the presence of an additional playlist; it may require modification of core game files to reference them. It would still be possible then, but would be more likely to get screwed up each time EA pumps out an update. I'll definitely have to look more into this but it would be a great improvement.

I put up another update. Support for 8 new clips along with a pared down file size, and that spywatch eliminated.

The "Watch Porn" whim is still not always triggering properly and I'm looking into how to improve this still,

but wanted to get the improvements that had already been made out along with the new clips.

Ok, I'm hoping the site sorts things out, but for now I'll put them here.

Xena:

STN_Clip_D83F.package

Blowjob Pros: Natasha Nice

STN_Clip_86A7.package

The Finishers

STN_Clip_4B9B.package

Double Trouble: Lauren Phoenix

STN_Clip_21E1.package

Cassandra's First Time

STN_Clip_DE64.package

Camera Guy's Lucky Day

STN_Clip_E49D.package

Twisted Sisters

STN_Clip_329A.package

Fawna's Bartending Gig

STN_Clip_99C7.package

I should be back around in a few hours if there are problems with these links.

I've noticed the original links seem to suddenly be working, so something is probably getting sorted out on the backend of the site.

In one of the other threads discussing the mod, people had requested certain types of clips.

I was considering creating a content creation thread so that people can create and test their own clips, then they can be added to the playlist and offered as additional optional downloads. The quantity and variety of content would expand considerably, and people could have what they want and avoid what they don't want.

The only real hindrance to this is that I would need to include some steps and tools to get people started, and in my case a lot of the software was already installed. So I need to figure out what needs to be installed for those that didn't already have a million codecs and video tools in place.

If anyone is interested in how to create clips or in adding specific content, let me know; we can get you some of the software and determine what else may be needed. But it would go a long way towards figuring out the comprehensive steps needed for others to get set up. Then I could create a linked content creation thread that would walk through the basic steps of installation, editing and testing clips. It would basically condense the tutorial steps along with the things I've learned since starting out. People could create and test their own clips, and once tested and working, they could be offered for download for everyone else when the mod's playlist is updated. It would become a collaborative LL clip creation effort which would allow me to focus on improving other aspects of the mod.

I think the best place to start is with Virtualdub. The latest version is 10.4 I believe. You can download it here:

http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

I'm at work right now and don't have access to my machine at home, but see if you can locate what codecs are available (or are missing) in the video>compression tab.

I installed on a machine at work just to give an example. At work the selections are pretty sparse:

example.jpg.7f49b152afbcc1ae38d63031d48bf5d6.jpg

At home, both XVID and the VP6 codec show up here. We'll need both of them to be able to edit clips and add them to the game. I think that both are freely downloadable but don't have the time to set up a machine here at work with everything. But I think the links in the tutorial I found are still valid. You can take a look at that here:

http://modthesims.info/t/533897

See if you can get XVID and VP6 to show up in Virtualdub. I don't think XVID is mentioned within the tutorial, but I found editing clips is much easier when encoded with XVID first, and then once complete and ready, it can be encoded with VP6 for use by the game. When I get home later, I should be able to offer some help if you get stuck.

Other tools that have come in handy are Avisynth and AvsP. They allow us to access files other than avi files, such as MP4 files, via scripts directly in Virtualdub.

But it's vital to get Virtualdub set up properly with the codecs first. I used to use Virtualdub often for encoding AVI files, but have since moved on the x264 and MKV files. Oddly, I used to have an mp3 encoding option for the audio that is now missing; luckily it doesn't matter because the VP6 converter doesn't care about audio bitrates. So there are no fancy audio codecs to worry about; if you can get VP6 (it may appear as VP60) to show up in Virtualdub then any other tools can be downloaded as needed. It appears that the VP6 codec link from the tutorial still works at least.

So, luckily I was able to test thinks out here because it's slow, and it looks like I figured it out. You can download XVID here:

https://www.xvid.com/download/

and the VP6 codec here:

http://marc.simon999.free.fr/vp6_vfw_codec.exe

Then your Virtualdub video compression tab should look like this (or close):

example2.jpg.2d19bca09a45249169221210c60088b5.jpg

From here you should be able to open different files (particularly AVI's) in Virtualdub and can edit and recompress them. See if you can hunt down Avisynth; AvsP may not be necessary, but just provides a nice GUI for script creation (and it may be dated). With Avisynth, you should be able to create text files that reference other video sources, and then rename those text files as AVS files that can be opened in Virtualdub. If you don't have any luck, I'll see if I can hunt down the links and more info so we can work with more than just AVI files. A lot of content is in MP4 format these days, so we need to be able to work with those.

Another helpful tool is VideoDownloadHelper, an extension for Chrome or Firefox that allows you to download videos from Pornhub and other sites.

Often times they are MP4 files, though, so we will need to be able to work with those.

I'm afraid the pic didn't come through. What is the issue you're experiencing?

(Nevermind, I got it to show up. Sometimes Imgur gets weird with it's links).

Apparently we have some kind of conflict with the University Expansion. I don't have this one yet so haven't been able to test it, but my wife does and hasn't encountered issues even though she has an earlier version of my mod. Are you sure it is my mod causing this?

I do know there are some key differences between the current mod and the previous one; mainly that the text edits have been pared down and the whole string language file is not included in the newer one. I plan to get this expansion soon, but prefer to buy a bundle, and with the Black Friday deals currently on offering, it won't let me do it. But if my mod is causing this, then I'll need to address that soon. I can't imagine why that would be the case, though; why would replacing other text in the base game negatively impact the expansion? But of course, it's more complicated than that because multiple base game files were changed with the latest update.

It could be something as simple as needing to implement the same changes, but on the newer updated base game files. I'll be looking into this further, because I definitely don't want any conflicts with expansions or recent patches. I'll try to implement some changes and will use my wife's game to test it out. If that works out, then perhaps I'll reach out to you and have you try it; it's possible there could be another conflict somewhere in your configuration, but we won't know until we try it out. But if it works properly, then it could provide the basis for the next revision.

While not focused on the latest patch, I think this link here shed light on the issue:

https://simsvip.com/2019/04/18/the-sims-4-custom-text-affected-by-the-april-16th-patch/

I'll be taking a look at what workarounds will avoid the problem as it is likely quite similar.

So, I looked into this further, starting by looking how the mod is already configured. Apparently after this issue back in April, they altered Sims 4 Studio to give custom text a group ID of 0x80000000 automatically. I tried reverting it to 0x00000000 as mentioned in the thread and it seems to still work on my end, the question is will it impact the problem you are having? There are no other real changes to the file at this point, but if you could try this in place of the STN_Core_0.7.6 file, we'll find out pretty quickly whether it solves the problem.

STN_Core_0.7.7_alpha.package

I tried it on my wife's machine, and her student was able to pull up the organizational events screen you showed me; the title of the menu and "Go to Event" show up properly with this change. If you can confirm that it works for you, I'll post this update so others don't encounter this problem, saving other changes in the works for a future revision.
