Good call MovieGuy420 - I'm seeing quite a few downloads already.  I also know that your mod works with the other TV mod, CinErotique, so I got two channels of good stuff ;)  But I figured others would like your mod - I know you're hoping to do more to it and still testing it out - I havent had any issues with it (knock on wood).   Keep up the good work, thank you for the mod :D

I am getting pretty good download numbers. It's good to know that it works with CinErotique; I knew they had two versions and only one used the Romance channel. 

I try to be careful about which revs I upload; the last one I had ready seemed to work at first, but later crashed the game so it's back to the drawing board. But I try to thoroughly test when adding clips or making other changes, and keep the download here the last known stable one. 

 

Thanks for the feedback; I'll keep working on it. I'm having trouble finding some info on altering Sim behavior, and I am looking into that too. I'd like to make the Sims react to the channel the way they do to Sims having sex, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Most of the alterations so far involve altering text or buff values, but I think something more sophisticated may be needed for that. But I'll also work on adding clips while trying to keep file sizes under control.

 

I haven't tried it yyshc223, but I think it may conflict with it. It seems the Romance channel is  a logical choice when starting a mod like this because it already gives a flirty buff, so with two conflicting playlists for the channel I'm pretty sure it will cause problems. You can always re-locate his mod when trying this out, and then keep the one you like best. I don't think AirplaneRandy is still active (although I could be wrong), because I haven't seen any recent updates or changes to the mod, or him responding within the Mod's thread. His mod may even be better; I haven't tried it, but this one will continually improve as I work on it.

Another revision is up that contains a few more clips; oddly two didn't work properly until one was added to the end of each. Perhaps clips can neither be too long or too short without causing problems. One crashed the game, and the other caused things to play slowly after finishing the clip. Making the clips longer with more content put them in the 2-3 minute range, so that seems to be the sweet spot.

 

I'm getting a lot of feedback that many people are still using AirplaneRandy's mod, and they suggest a channel switch to make it possible to use both. I'm also aware of CinerotiqueTV so need to look into what options are available, how to keep the references to the channel's texts, what channels aren't vital to the game, or how to add an independent channel perhaps.

is it still replacing the romance channel? I really want to have all tv porn mods (yours, AR, and cinerotique's).

It still is replacing the Romance channel at this point, but I'm looking into options to change it in the future and make that possible.

Do you guys think either Sports or Action is replaceable? I wouldn't want to make it expansion pack-dependent.

Another user pointed out that CinerotiqueTV copied the buffs from the romance channel over to News for their other version, so it should be possible to do the same with another channel like Sports or Action. Maybe leave the fun buff in place and add the flirty buff if possible. I'll have to look further into the text situation for each channel too.

Thanks Bob601, I've added a couple clips and more are in the works. At first I feared cutting these clips would cause audio problems once audio was working, but I've done a few now and they've stayed in sync. It can be a challenge to condense scenes down to 3-4 minutes sometimes, so I've found some creative ways to do it, but if you have preferences for the way it is handled, or liked some clips but not others you can leave feedback about it which will likely influence future clips.

 

One possibility in re-working the mod to be on another channel, is that some of the earlier clips without audio may be cut out to make room for newer clips that have it. In addition to the music video type clips, the last couple have had straight up scenes strategically cut to show different highlights; they had audio and came out just fine, so it is completely possible that future clips will be more like that. I'd like to have a variety of content to set it apart from other TV mods until I can implement some other features. But looking into some of this should allow greater insight into how to change Sim reactions.

I'll have to take a look at this later tonight korbe, but I'm sure I can work with it to create another clip. I'm also struggling to get a new clip I have ready to work with a new revision; it keeps crashing the game, so I need to figure out why that is. I've also created a beta on the action channel so that it will be possible to use this with AirplaneRandy's mod and CinerotiqueTV. One benefit of the Action channel is that Sims now fist pump and cheer on the channel, but the flirty buff is invisible for some reason and I need to research that too. But I may eventually replace the Romance version with this once I get it working properly.

Some new developments have happened; I've successfully created an Action channel version of the mod. The text edits differ slightly, and currently the flirty buff doesn't show as a moodlet the same way, but Sims now fist-pump and cheer on the channel, and receive both a fun buff as well as a flirty buff.

Unfortunately, they still show Action channel thought bubbles, but I'll be looking into changing that too.

 

I've removed some of the earlier clips without audio; they can be re-worked with it later. I kept Amateur Hour, because that one was mostly made from gifs and may create an opportunity to add a custom gig associated with it later. This also helps keep the file size down.

 

I've taken a closer look at the other TV mods, and have noticed that they allow the download of individual clips. I suspect that means that if the playlist encounters something it can't locate, it simply moves to the next, but I need to confirm this. If so, then perhaps the base package will keep a few clips, and additional clips could be optional downloads.  But this needs to be tested further first.

I've become aware of some audio bitrate conflicts causing problems when completing certain clips and moving on to others. It looks like I need to rework clips to all have the same audio bitrate, despite them being from differing sources. I've witnessed clips finish and move on to the next without issue, and I've also witnessed subsequent clips playing too fast or slow until the channel is changed or the TV is turned off and back on. In each case, it involved one of the clips that had a different audio bitrate, so I think I know how to tackle this problem based on that. 

 

UPDATE: It turns out the vp6 converter used to add video to the game does not care about audio bitrates: files are converted to the same size whether they are uncompressed wav files or 64kbps mp3; it doesn't matter. But the sampling rate has a great impact on file size is what I discovered, and transitions from videos with one sampling rate and another cause problems. The downside is that some clips need to be reworked, but the upside is smaller file sizes. With some of the clips that were re-worked, any reduction in quality isn't noticeable. I'll be re-working some of the others and then looking at changing in-game icons and thought bubbles.

More discoveries were made, and big changes are coming. The end result is smaller file sizes, and optional clip downloads. I think I'm also on the right track when it comes to changing in-game icons such as their thought bubbles, so this change could be coming soon too.

A major restructure and update has been added.

Most thought bubbles have been overridden, and clips are now optional, allowing you to skip ones you don't want.

Smaller file sizes and a move to the action channel, allowing compatibility with other TV mods such as AirplaneRandy and CinErotiqueTV round out the features of this one, with a dozen optional clips available for download.

Sure korbe, I'll be taking a look at this, and I've already downloaded your earlier one, so some of them may make an appearance in new clips soon. I was considering doing a "Wet 'N' Wild" clip which features pool, hot tub, and outdoor in the rain sex clips featuring Sims, and the last vid you offered had some footage that may work well with that. I'll be sure to include you in the acknowledgements when using some of your footage. Truthfully, there's kind of a learning curve to making vids with in-game animations, and while mine are getting better, I still haven't perfected the techniques, so these kind of offerings can be quite helpful, because some users are only interested in clips with Sims.

 

 

Now that the mod is re-structured to be modular, it should be easier to test clips and add them.

Because a new core package with an updated playlist is required when adding new ones,

it makes sense to add 2 or 3 clips before releasing the next revision.

hey can u gimme a list of the clips that feature music plz?

 

i'm trying to make let's plays & don't want copyyrighten music to pop up!

I removed the clip that said it was a music vid but still heard back in blk & u can't touch this! O_o

I like the tunes but gotta take em out.

so plz gimme a list of which have songs so I can remove them. thx

Sure korbe, all 3 Classic Porn clips have tracks, as well as the Dirty Laundry Music video.

School of Cock also has music, but I don't think it was commercially released, and may have been created for the Brazzer's clip I edited.

 

The "Team Players" dual BJ's seems to be one of the most popular clips so far, so I will do more like that in the future I think.

I'm also working on more animated intros for some of the clips but haven't had any luck overriding that damn spywatch yet,

so when watching the Sims are either thinking about Woohoo or James Bond LOL.

 

I don't understand why the override didn't work, when all the others were successfully overridden, so I may have to peruse some of the game files looking for the instance ID to see if I can override it another way.

 

I had fun creating some of the musical clips, but there will be plenty of straight up porn clips in the future too.

Last night I was working on one only to discover the audio crapped out halfway through, so I had to ditch that source and start on another one.

first things first, your override is not working because you're overriding the wrong instance, the same spy-watch is featured in the game as an asset twice, the one you're calling in your mod - C51A1A8C27D602F0 - is for an achievement (i spy), the one you looking for is in fact this one: 553C1EE414239DFF.

i would like to point out some other problems as well if you don't mind:

1.) i see you modified the text for one of the whims -i'm lazy to look up which one you did, i'm guessing as it's a pink one, it's the "watch romantic comedy" one-, but it's not actually triggering a completion from "watching a custom channel", imho, you should either fix it to trigger properly, or change back the whim's text to it's original.

2.) i have to say that it's incredibly bad practice to include the whole language string table file in your mod - it creates potential conflicts with other mods.

you should make a custom string table with the same instance number,  and only include the keys/lines you are actually trying to override.

Thank you langdon_cobb, I had looked for another instance but hadn't found it, so I will look into this further tonight.

I had looked through the icon map I downloaded and hadn't found it, but I will look for this 553C1EE414239DFF instance.

Apparently it wasn't included in the icon map I downloaded.

 

I already had the video editing experience, but modding The Sims 4 is fairly new to me, and these are some good observations. 

 

1) I'll have to look into making sure the whim triggers properly, but the idea was to have text that would be applicable regardless of whether other popular TV channel mods were installed, or not. At the very least I would want it to trigger when watching STN (I believe it already does with the Romance channel) which would at least work for both this mod and AirplaneRandy's. Perhaps an optional package could even be used to add a trigger if also using CinErotiqueTV. I believe this can be done with further XML modification, and will certainly look into it.

 

2) I suppose my use of the whole string table file was taken directly from the tutorial for custom TV channel creation.

I'll have to look into making this change in the next revision, because I don't want conflicts with other mods, and it sounds like a good idea.

I suppose I'm not familiar with Game File Cruiser, but it does look helpful.

That's very helpful. I'll have to look into getting a hold of this Game File Cruiser, it could have saved me a lot of trouble.

The icon map I downloaded was available on ModtheSims, but it's a few years old.

TheSimKid had collected all in game icons (at least he thought so) with their instance ID's and offered them for download, yet only one spywatch with laser was included,

and apparently it was the wrong one.

tbh, i strongly recommend you not to meddle with custom whims/instances/tuningIDs other mods might be using... you should be extra careful not cause any conflicts/overrides. if you want to have my honest opinion - as you said "modding The Sims 4 is fairly new to you" - first you should just concentrate to fix it so it properly triggers to watching one certain channel, instead of dreaming big of an all-encompassing grand solution straight away.

I definitely would start with just the Action Channel. I believe that the trigger is already native to the Romance Channel, which AirplaneRandy's mod uses. It's one benefit of using that channel and exactly why this mod also initially started there. Once the Action channel trigger is successfully added, it hopefully shouldn't be too difficult to create an optional package that adds another trigger for the News channel, which CinErotiqueTV uses when not using the Romance channel. But of course, you are correct that meddling with whims or other IDs that other mods interact with can be problematic, so an incremental approach is best. I'll have to be sure that compatibility is maintained, because multiple mods attempting to override the same data would obviously cause conflicts.

The Classic Porn clip was cut into 3 segments, one for each decade. They have music because they are made from a series of gif images.

Up & Cummers was one that features in-game animations. You should be able to read each description by opening the details below the package.

Attempting to do this resulted in a lot of missing text in game, or gibberish in its place. I'm sure I've missed something key, but attempting to reduce the STBL file down to those few fines using this didn't work out.  It also failed to show up at all when using a randomly generated instance.

 

Oddly, when I used Sims 4 Studio to do the exact same thing, it worked. I exported the file and the only differences I saw were yet another instance ID, and multiple copies of the modified STBL that didn't seem to impact file size and had slightly modified instances. But the XML code itself was identical. In the process I found a couple more lines of text to edit not included in the code earlier. Now I'll look into making sure that whim triggers properly. Take a look if you like.
