(Solved) Sound/Audio Issues

Has anyone run into this issue (no pun intended), the player character and all npcs have no footsteps at all. I've tried to adjust the volume in settings and downloading immersive footsteps but none of that has worked. The only sounds that appear is barefoot on stone walkways or wooden planks. Jumping up and down on other terrain like grass or snow does not emit sound, sprinting doesn't do it, nor anything else. I also noticed archery sounds were affected. When the arrow is loosed, and when the arrow hits, no sound. I read a thread that suggested deleting a line out of audio for USLEEP, and I tried that with no results. This seems to be a rare thing as I can't find much about it via google.

 

Side note, in my previous load order, I was beginning to experience sound delays, where audio for opening the inventory, impacts and such were delayed but it wasnt anything like this.

Bumping because I just spent the rest of the day testing by uninstalling mods, especially audio files to find the culprit. I even validated steam files but no luck. If there is something else you guys would like me to provide for effort please let me know. This bug also includes some weapon attacks, but now that all of those are gone I don't see any issues I can check. Fores mentioned in another thread that audio for some effects have to do with animation files and "If the animator doesn't install them correctly" that there could be issues. Ive had no issues with my animations for the past year. These issues only came up when I updated to parallax textures but decided to roll back due to vram. Ever since then, no sounds aside from barefoot to pavement and wood. 

 

Im looking to learn how to do this on my own so i can help others too. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

While playing the game (still with the above no footsteps and etc) I had a game crash related to sound files. Does anyone know if any of these are connected with my original issue?

The message is very clear. The game has a fail loading files. The 99% of the times is true but sometimes is caused by others motives.

 

You have this problem for days and seems that you verified the game files and remove mods. The additional options are low.

 

First, verify your machine with others old games that run with Directx 9 for verify your hardware, drivers and Direct X instalation. If you find a problem reinstall Direct X and verify drivers. If all run good must be a skyrim exclusive problem.

 

Try disable all mods and run a pure vanilla game. If problem persist can be a problem in the INI files. Locate your skyrim.ini and skyrimpref.ini and delete it. Launch the game again for automatically generate new INI files with default parameters. Look if that solve yours problems.

Thank you very much for responding and giving me something to work off of. I updated my Direct X and that didn't do anything, I tried to find ways or reasons why my sound files arent working and I still havent found a solution. Id rather not uninstall critical mods if I don't need to but it does seem as though options are slim. I've googled on missing sound files and not much came up that didnt have anything to do with modding. More vanilla issues from what I've found. Any other ideas? I expect it to be skyrim exclusively as SOME sound files work but not all.

Thanks for the heads up @Fotogen but I already use admin to use MO. 

 

I tried messing with permissions for the SKSE.exe file that would connect to MO but I'm not too fluent on setting permissions through another program or if its even possible. I somehow got a few sounds to play intermittently while I was walking in different terrain but they shortly stopped after I continue to run around. Strange. 

 

Edit: Its sand, sand terrain near the north end beaches play the footstep audio but once I step to snow it stops. As far as I know its the only terrain to work for footsteps besides sneaking audio effects.

In case anyone ever does something as dumb as I did I thought I would close this out. I went over my files with a comb and found three different sound overhaul mods that were likely causing the issue. I deleted them and a few other mods and the footsteps work again. Protip, just because your mod manager doesnt detect any issues or overwriting, doesnt mean they still cant conflict in some way. Its always good to just go over your load order and clean up files.
