I Need Help With Installing Mods

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

I have never used these mods before so it's my first time and I can easily say that I'm having the most difficult times of my life. I wanted to download Home Sweet Home mod to test it out but it wanted this mod and that. So I entered a rabit hole of mods. I tried to get the nececery ones but I don't know if I missed any. I run Requiem, I run FNIS and I have SKSE. I have been trying to fix this and play the game for like 3 days now and I'm about to lose my mind.

Please some one help me. I'm using Vortex and I'm villing to share my TeamViewer info so you guys can help me out with this.

If I made this topic in the wrong place, I apologise from the admins. I'm not used to these stuffs and even using forums. Thank you all for reading and answering. Have a nice day/evening.

First of all add your load order.

And describe the problem you are having, that is not clear.

Can you start the game? Can you get to the load screen? Do you crash somewhere? Is something expected not working?

(the post is in the right spot)

Sounds like you have the basics down just need to polish your skills in load orders and what mods work well with others. The best advice I give and it is fail safe....

1.Make a plan on what type of game you want to play

2. Read the mod description and dependencies ....some mods are just not worth it because of dependencies.

3. Stick to your plan DO NOT just install mods willy-nilly your game will fail.

4. Start small work your way up

5. Make a hard save before you mod and/or add a mod this save can be returned to if the mod does not work out.

6. Most important read forums and watch videos tutorials this will save you a shit-ton of headaches and make you a better modder to have an enjoyable game.

I managed to start the game. I played from the start but my character froze at the prisoner part before the dragon came. So I closed it up and deleted all mods and reinstalled them. Now I can't open my game at all.

I also can't see from FNIS.exe. The words are not visible and it gives OLD FNIS version error. Which is weird because I downloaded the lates version.

And I don't know where to find my load order. I'm that unexperienced. Apologise for that :)

OK. Reinstall FNIS.

And use a mod manager, looks like you are manually installing mods.

Then run again FNIS.

And report further errors.

I would put @woodsman30's point number 6 at number 1.

You could start here:

https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.10.0

It will get you a stable vanilla game and one that you can add mods to.

To produce a load order:

Use the 3 vertical dots in LOOT.

Paste the text here in a spoiler (use the 'eye' icon on the bar above (two to the left of the emoji icon)).

There's probably a way to do it with Vortex but I don't use it so don't know it.

I reinstalled FNIS, again, and its still the same.
I'm also using a Mod manager called VORTEX. It's automaticly fixes the load orders if I understand correctly. I can't copy paste it tho.

Can't someone help me with Teamviewer?

No idea what Teamviewer is but it is not needed.

I've told you how get and post a load order. For the FNIS output you just need to copy the text and paste it here using spoiler tag.

If by 'fixes' you mean sort then learn how to use it properly. If you are using a mod manager you don't understand then that it likely to be a major contributor to your problems.
