Although to be *fair*... I'm giving myself a lot of leeway so I still will be able to jump around and play them all. Extreme lifespans. We are talking 700 days in the adult lifestage, 560 for young adult, etc.

I've set it up so a year in the sim calendar is a year in their life, and set the lifestages after that principle, 28 days to a year, multiply that with how many years I figure each life-stage represents, and voila, through the power of math I have a system. Even pregancy, it last for 21 days. Honestly not sure how it will work out, it'll be a bit of an experiment, sims aren't supposted to live that long, game isn't balanced for it, but then again, I am planning on playing atleast 100 or so at the same time, as they all age even when I'm not playing them.

Not going to include the vanilla sims this time around, hence the blank save-file I downloaded, they'll all be from a few select sim-makers, and maybe I'll throw in a few of my own too.

 

I have just set up the first neighborhood in Willow Creek. I have the Newbies, Brokes, Goths, Pleasants, Rosenkrantzs in there already, and a few houses left to fill still. I wanted to start out with the most "mundane" bunch first, so there is a stable foundation of population before I start to add in crazyness with the gangs, pornstars and urbz, not to mention supernatural sims.

 

I guess this is my opportunity to play with all the updated sims you've made over the last 3 years or so. ? I'm liking Mikaela's family. I think she was the second of your sims I played back when I started playing your sims. She and Jenny went to university. Jenny had this whole thing where she seduced and married Owen Rockwell, and then ended up getting killed by him after he was turned into a vampire. It was all this drama. Meanwhile Mikaela kind of just got a house in Willow Creek, and then I didn't play her again for 3 or 4 RL years. Also, good point, I'll be able to bring back Jenny of course. She was always my favourite. Well, second, after Alba...

 

Anyway, I'm rambling. ?

I think you already knew how important your collection was to my old save, so I'm happy to start out my new one with your sims taking the stage, front and center, from the start.

 

That sounds like it is going to be an interesting experiment. Curious as to how the extremely long life spans are going to work.

What age ranges are you operating with for the various life stages then? I've had young adult as 18 to 36 for the longest time now, and adult as 36 to 60 (though that would be longer now that they extended that length), with one normal lifespan YA day being 0.75 years and one adult year being 1 year, which is a bit wonky, but mostly just because I uses it for flavor and don't really play with aging on even on the rare occasion when I play the game a bit. I guess better one would be for me to switch to 1 day as 1 year for YA as well. Teens and children I mostly just wing it with as I don't make or play with those very often.

I'm honestly surprised it lasted as long as it did. The game warns you that it isn't advisable to play with more than 200 sims, and I was running over 400, across many, many patches and updates/additions, and even removal of mods, not to mention additions of expansions. The Sims, for all it's fault, is very good about that. In Skyrim if you remove or add a mod the universe will often start to unravel.

 

My old calculation was 2 days=1 year, started out at 4=1 but that took too long to play. Every kid got an A and everyone was at the top of their career before they hit adult, even if I didn't grind skills, so I had to shorten it. 2 was probably too much too, if we are considering game-balance, to be honest, but it allowed me room to focus on the story rather than have to worry too much.

 

My calculation for the ranges is the same as I used to use though, that baby is 0-1 year, toddler 1-6, child 6-13, teen 13-20 (a bit wonky that they will still be in highschool until 20, I admit, but I take "teen" literarly), young adult 20-40, and adult 40-65. Elder is 65+ with an expected lifespan of 75 and a mod that adds a bit of randomness to that.

Vanilla lifestages aren't proportional, toddler/child/teen are waaaay to long, when compared to YA and adult, from a purely proportional point of view. I assume it's to allow you to get through all the content in a reasonable manner, but it also means that in vanilla sims, unless my calculations are off, it is literarly impossible for an adult sim to have a living grandparent, even if both their mother and grandmother got pregnant the day they became young adult, which is a bit weird.

Side-effect is that I have to manually set your sims ages now. The game saves how many days lived you've given them, but not proportional to have many days you use for your settings. I used to only have to nudge it a couple of days either way because or settings were fairly similar, to set them at their canonical age with my previous settings. Lets just say my calculator has done a lot of x*28=y these last two days.

Yeah. I used to totally micromanage every aspect of their lives, so it will be a personal challenge to let go a bit, and it's already stressing me out knowing they are actually ticking up in age off-screen, even though I realise on an intellectual level that I have given myself plenty of time to get every sim I care about to where I want them.

I suspected that the High School Years update did something like that (had noticed sims age bars were messed up, wasn't sure if a mod, or broken mod was the cause), thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Might be, but there was also the infamous "groundhog day" bug right after release of that DLC, where time would re-set whenever you traveled between lots.

Jocelyn Zavala has been updated and reuploaded

 

 

A major update to her warderobe, including many custom swatches for clothing as well as a custom hair color swatch and 3 additional alternate hairstyles reflecting some alternate appearance I've used for her at times. Generally new makeup style, now trending towards darker eyeshades and lip colors than earlier. Face and body remain more or less unchanged though I've gone over to setting her up to use Simdulgence's breast meshes and nipple piercings.  

 

I've also elaborated on her backstory and personaltiy and made some changes here, reflecting her perhaps being one of the sims I've made who's got some personal issues in her past and present.

 

Link to post which has been updated with new details including body meshes, custom traits and other recommended mods and so on.

I had actually decided not to use insecure custom, because the trait from lifetime quirks kind of fulfilled that purpose and it didn't make sense to have her embarassed all the time. But I forgot about that and uploaded her with the trait I meant to replace. So I've reuploaded the first archive that includes the tray files and for anyone wanting to have that but who don't want to redownload all the CC as well, here's the updated tray files, sorry!

Wow, Jozie has always been very much the shallow bleach blonde in my mind. The alternate hairstyles and younger shots really add some depth to her.

Thank you To be honest she didn't really have much of a backstory before, not written out at least, the old post was just me listing traits and why she I thought she'd have them. 

 

She's very much been a favorite of mine for a while actually. As for the alternate hairstyles, I encourage anyone to play around with them and different ones for her according to what they think fits her, as mentioned and indicated a bit in the pics, she's naturally got black hair but has dyed her hair various different colors before, the bleach blonde is just kind of the one I like the most.

Yeah, you're right. I've been replacing midnitetech's careers with Kiara's careers in sims I've updated, for Sabrina and other models you could go with Kiara's model career

Mrrakkon, would you ever consider making Ava Cadavra from the Sims 2 DS game? My apologies if you've answered this before, but I've been wondering... there's not a lot of Sim creators whose Sims have the amount of personality yours do, I think you'd do her justice ?

I'm pretty sure @TriggerBlade has mentiuoned her to me before in private conversation, I'm not against the idea of making a sim based on her, but it's not something that's going to be a current priority unless I suddenly get it in my head to do it. If I did I would almost certainly base her appearance more on the Sims 2 DS version instead of the handheld Urbz, making Urbz sims has really given me an overabundance of purple-haired sims, and the DS version in general has a more interesting apperance.

That's intended to be Harry Snivel's country boy cousin I think.

 

He's Jozie's gay roommate. He hasn't been fully fleshed out yet aside from minor background info and a general look.

He'll be in the world save rebuild, which is coming along nicely, but it will be up to Mrrakkon if he'll ever be available for direct download.
