Wet body texture for no reason. estrus maybe?

Hello,

I found a wet body testure on my high elf since a while and I have no idea where it comes from. It's not from unp of course but I should have no Mods that add extra textures. It reminds my a bit of the wet effects during estrus animations. I have no active effects that show something about this wet textures.

Can you help me to find the cause for this?

That's the "femalebody_1_s.dds" file which adds the sweat effect. Did you simply try searching for that file on your drive?

No, I didn't because I didn't know it existed. I don't understand why the effect appears now. It never showed up on older chars. Which mod adds it to my char? (Can't play skyrim for the next days)

Search the sub-directory where you have stored your mods (if using Mod Organizer search that directory) for the file "femalebody_1_s.dds".  If found it will be in the folder of the culprit MOD. If not then it maybe tucked into a .bsa (compressed file). But first try the search.

This is just one of the 4 skin texture files. It does not necessarily have to be wet/sweaty looking. Skin overhauls usually have the look as one of their options.

 

Just out of interest, where is the location in the screenshots?

Precisely. That texture file OPTION is the _s.dds file. If he can locate the directory that file is in it will tell him which MOD (whether an esp or no) is overhauling his texture.

What can I do when I found it and the mod? Can I just delete or replace the file to change to another femae body?

Well, depends. You may well find multiple _s.dds files. Do you have a way to view a .dds file? If so, the wet/sweat file will look like this:

You can simple replace it with another. If you have a texture set you are using, the original download may have different versions of the _s file.

Just to be clear - If you are using a "Body Texture" set the original download may have different versions of the "femalebody_1_s.dds" file.

I don't think I ever messed wth the body files. So I'm new to this part of modding. It was never a problem until I updatet estrus. Apart from estrus I never saw a mod using this textures.

Do you use any skin texture mods such as Fair Skin, Leyenda, Mature Skin for example? That is the type of mod which will give you that effect.

Is it happening to every female or just elves?

I use nothing like that. And it is only on my player. NPCs look normal like the unp model should.

What about if you create a non-elf character?

 

To sum up.

What you have is obviously not a vanilla effect. So therefore it must come from something you have installed.

You need to go through your mods, not just the plug-ins, to see if you can spot something which affects skins or bodies.

You could post your load order but most texture mods don't have an esp so that would be of limited use.

 

Failing all that, you could just install a skin texture mod and choose the normal look. ?

The file is in the skyrim-mods-virtualIntall-unpb installer-textures-actors-character-female .  He finds an estrus file in the search too.

I found out, that the effect only appears if I'm walking naked in the sunlight. It doesn't appear in dark areas (for eample under a tree) or at night. It happens withh every female char.

Estrus and unpd, yes.

Hmm, there is an option called Skin-textures in the unpd installer. Sadly it didn't affect the wet effect.
