Strelky Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Sucks for you for. Not having a backup Just kidding, I can see why you'd be angry
nonusnomeni Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 and peoples ask me why i hate steam... me by because this is not first time i see or hear that story... be happy if they not try to billing twice...
Queen Bee Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Woah, thanks for the warning. I'm going to update my backup data folder right now before I log in.
Kahne00 Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Uh ok? What the hell is the Button? Dont press "OK"... Backup everything first Just tired to recover the files... Its not working anymore... pfffff.. DONT trust Steam!
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 And THIS is why I don't use steam, I would NEVER want a 3rd party managing my files. I can fuck them up on my very own, thank you very much!
Guest user29 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Steam doesn't delete things it doesn't download I'm pretty sure.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Steam doesn't delete things it doesn't download I'm pretty sure. Sounds like it did to him.
Guest user29 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 I can't really really make sense of anything past he clicked a button on a computer and things got deleted.
Jerbsinator Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 I don't understand why people seem to have so much trouble with Steam. I have used it for years and never had a problem.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 I have no idea what you people are talking about. I do not have a DELETE FUCKING EVERYTHING button in my Steam...
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 If I understood him right, it was updating, and deleted all of his mods from the data folder.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 That really shouldn't happen, though. I mean, even when you uninstall a game, Steam leaves all of your mod related materials where they are... so why would an update do what an uninstall doesn't?
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 That really shouldn't happen' date=' though. I mean, even when you uninstall a game, Steam leaves all of your mod related materials where they are... so why would an update do what an uninstall doesn't? [/quote'] I think that was what he was wondering.
deathparade Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 I still don't understand which of the few 1000 buttons on Steam cause i have NEVER seen this before...
Guest Lady Luck Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Careful Guys... if you press the Button everything is over.... Ahrg... Ah.. Creation Kit cannot start... blablablub.... Haha... delete files and then reinstall creation kit... THAT FUCKING PROGRAMM DELETED AAAAAAAAAALLLL THE ESMs and ESPs aaand the complete folderstrukture.... Skyrim.esm included... wtf!? So... thats it just wanted to share my anger lol the ebil button that eats your file ' date=' before you update the game or do anything like this make sure you backup the file structure , and before you do that clear the steam cache and do verify integrity otherwise you invite WMD that deletes all your file. @Deathparade I still don't understand which of the few 1000 buttons on Steam cause i have NEVER seen this before... its over 900000!!! XD man that shit never get old, this poster refer to either update button or something that make steam ticked off " Get of my boat!" XD
deathparade Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Yea but still haven't found the "Nuke game files" button
Nova eXelon Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Steam doesn't delete things it doesn't download I'm pretty sure. Yes it does. If you delete Skyrim through Steam, it kills the very folder "Skyrim". Every mod, tool or whatever you downloaded separately will be gone because it's in the same folder. Was quite surprised by that too.
deathparade Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Well sometimes it does delete the whole folder and sometimes it just doesn't.
Shiloh2012 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Well sometimes it does delete the whole folder and sometimes it just doesn't. That's not very reassuring...
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I've never seen Steam remove the entire folder.
movomo Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 They did to me. Long ago I needed to completely reinstall steam. That's easy you just click the button and they delete everything including your games including falllout skyrim whatever. without warning. I mean any single word of warning. I thought Steam will leave my games alone because they are my assets, but they didn't. I guess they think simply "What's so bad you can re download any games from our super cool server" or "Maybe we're responsible for the games you bought but modded games are none of our concerns."
deathparade Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Nah that must mean your game files have FIRST to be compared to their game files (which could cost lots of upload and download speed cause iam sure lots of people delete games everyday) It would take longer for you to delete something and even with a simple SHIFT+DEL game folder system it still bugs sometimes....
