RichterQ87 Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 So I only recently decided to try my hand at modding SSE instead of Oldrim, and therefore have picked MO2 as my mod manager of choice as opposed to the now outdated NMM or the mess that is Vortex. Unfortunately, I'm having a slight problem with it. I understand the basics, but there's one underlying problem that makes modding it quite hard for me to understand -- and that's to do with the virtual installation folder that MO2 uses to keep your directory clean. I'm trying to run DynDOLOD and FNIS, but the problem is that these two programs scan your game directory for the files it needs, and my mods never go there because of MO2. So my question is, how do I use these programs, or any other similar program for that matter and have it work with Virtual Installation? I tried to go through the inbuilt tutorial of MO2 but it just stops after a while and doesn't proceed no matter what I do. All the tutorials I've looked at seem to just run FNIS and such without a problem, and for the life of me I don't understand how. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if it's a noob question.
JobiWanUK Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 You can't go wrong with Gopher's videos It's MO(1) and Oldrim but the method is exactly the same.
Ernest Lemmingway Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Running FNIS in MO2 requires some extra steps if you don't leave files in its overwrite folder. 1. Run FNIS and get an error. 2. Close FNIS. 3. Open FNIS again without emptying the overwrite folder and it will run fine. 4. Repeat 1-3 every time you need to run FNIS if you move the folders FNIS creates to another mod folder.
davisev5225 Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Add the FNIS and DynDOLOD executables to the drop-down menu of programs in MO2. Run them that way.
RichterQ87 Posted May 9, 2019 Author Posted May 9, 2019 Oh, I see. Thank you everyone! I had to do a very easy extra step for DynDOLOD because it tries to go through Oldrim instead of SSE, so if anybody else has the problem just add DynDOLOD to MO2 and under 'arguments' type '-sse' to make it use Skyrim Special Edition instead.
