Then enter the console in the main menu and enter "coc qasmoke". It should load the dev room. If it work try loading your save. Else there's a problem Elsewhere. Try to find the topic of different CTD on LL.

Hitting continue game automatically loads your most recent save.  If that one is screwed up, load a previous one to see if the problem persists.  If it is freezeing on load, do you have the main bugfixes for that?

1) Load Game CTD fix

2) Continue Game No Crash

or 3) Safety Load?

All are available on Nexus.

it happens right upon hitting continue game

Yeah well, if you hit continue you won't be loading a previous save...

Try this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85443 it is not a 100% solution but it may help, your best bet is to do as Neko says and try the qasmoke trick.

Maybe a bad files modification while running FNIS ?

None of this makes sense. If the game was working with the skeleton arm fix ticked 1. why should it stop working and 2. why should it start working with the fix unticked?

Did you try:

1. Loading your last save via load save rather than continue game? (With the arm fix ticked)

2. Loading an earlier save?  (With the arm fix ticked)

Did you have look at your save in save tool or similar prog?

Before you do major changes to your mods, saves, etc...

Please verify your cache in Steam. It might just be a file got corrupted from the game. It has happened to me.

Simple and easy fix. Only issue is if you have any cleaned masters you might have to re-clean them.

Quick, easy, safe, and removes any chance of bit rot or other corruption from game files.
