Sexual Practices of Nirn

Nice to see folks talking about Khajiit. They're one race I'm not planning on covering much myself. Sorry, but I'm not into races that resemble my pets. Unless we're talking about the Ohmes or Ohmes-raht who more closely resemble men and mer with feline traits rather than bipedal cats.

If Khajiit sex is painful for the women, it might mean they're less sexual than the men or they prefer lovers of other races. The latter could explain how the Ohmes and Ohmes-raht came about when every other sub-species are much more cat-like.

Don't take everything ESO says or does as canon. Too often it contradicts established lore in ways that can't be reconciled as anything except improper research. I'll believe Kirkbride and Keynes before I believe anything the current crop at Bugthesda/ZeniMax Online says. Especially when they keep contradicting and retconning their own lore whenever it suits them and without even trying to explain or reconcile things. ESO Tsaesci are not true Tsaesci, the Ebonheart Pact doesn't exist outside ESO, and Robert A. Altman is the ES equivalent of the Antichrist. :classic_angel:

Khajiit forms are determined by what part of the moon cycle they are born under.

I know that the moons' phases determine breed. But it would help explain why they resemble humans and elves so closely when their race evolved from cats and every other breed more closely resembles felines. And let's avoid any "meta" discussions about retcons following Arena.

The thing is Khajiit didn't "evolve" from cats*. Originally they were shapeless chaotic beings just like Bosmer were, but instead of being given a static and defined form by Yffre through the Green Pact, Azura took care of that by linking their physical forms to the moon phases. Seems like Azura was indeed into felines, and that's why Khajiit look the way they do, but there was no hybridization with humaoid races that created Ohmes or anything like that, they are simply one of the many different options that Azura came up with for them.

Chances are the fact that it's the form that worked best for Yffre has something to do with her adding it to the mix, and even then it isn't 100% effective at preventing them from going shapeless again (see the Wild Hunt for more info on that).

It could also be done as a way for Khajiit to more easily integrate with individuals that are not too keen on anthros. Hell, on a meta example, you just proved it yourself, as you don't seem interested in the more feline Khajiit but would be willing to discuss Ohmes and Ohmes-Raht.

*-> pretty much none of the (playable) races evolved from anything, except for maybe Argonians, as they were non-sentient feral lizards that were artificially uplifted by the Hist to be their "agents". Then again, I'm not sure if being magically altered by some bizarre alien hivemind entity would really count as "evolution".

Something about that didn't make sense to me so I double-checked UESP and found out why. The exact origins of the Khajiit are debated since there was talk of sapient feline-folks ("cat demons") during the time of Topal the Pilot, before the Aldmer settled Tamriel. The resemblance of the Ohmes and Ohmes-raht to men and mer is the source of the theory claiming the Khajiit and Bosmer are descended from the Aldmer, including the creation myth linking them to Azura.

For all we know the Ohmes and the Ohmes-raht may well be half-breed descendants of proto-Khajiit and men and/or mer who were then integrated into the final Khajiit race by Azura, being the source of the creation myth. Which just takes us back to the question of half-breeds in general that is contradictory and ultimately unanswered.
