Demoncookie Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Every time I try to launch Skyrim from Steam (SKSE launcher) it refuses to acknowledge that I have mods and will run the game without ANY of them. When I launch the game through Vortex (making sure to click on the SKSE button) I get a CTD during the carriage ride on a new game. Yes, I've deployed my mods. I use Vortex and Loot and neither of them are picking up any problems with the mods themselves. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling SKSE. I've tried rebooting my computer. None of the above has worked. I'll happily provide any useful information necessary if someone could help me fix this, as I'd really just like to play my game at this point. Edit: This problem may have to do with trying to load my settings during the opening cutscene, as I just launched it again, and it crashed as soon as I hit 'esc'.
Seijin8 Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Reduce the number of mods you are using - try again. If it persists, reduce again. Eventually you will figure out which mod(s) are generating the issue. You've provided very little to go on, so that's the best I can do.
Neko-Barbare Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 The carriage starting causes a lot of CTD. If you just want to start a new game, you could use Alternate Start Mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9557) which provide many other ways to begin your adventure in Skyrim (and there are also other mods to add more beginings to this mod). Try also to veify your game cache it can help. You can also try what Seijin8 says with reducing the number of mod loaded. Are you able to launch an older save ? It's strange that when you launch the game through steam it does not launch SKSE. Are you sure that you didn't miss something with the installation ?
Demoncookie Posted March 3, 2019 Author Posted March 3, 2019 I believe I've narrowed it down to which mods might have been causing it by disabling them ans slowly (so slowly) re-enabling them to see when my game would CTD. I think (not 100%) It had to do with any one of these mods : SL Defeat, FHU, Devious Devices, Cosio, or Zaz Animation pack. I know some of these are probably fine, but over two hours later of sitting through the same opening cutscene, I started adding a few at a time. As of right now I'm still going through to figure out exactly what it is that's causing my game to poop itself. I also learned recently that I was using the wrong button for the skse launcher for steam - apparently you're supposed to launch it from the file and not just hit the play button, and instead have been launching the game through Vortex (skse launcher)

I think that SL Defeat, Devious Devices and ZaZ Animation Pack are fine. Fill Her Up don't cause me trouble so i guess it's related to COSIO. While this mod use HDT and a lot of other stuff, it's reasonable to think it's the troubleshooting mod.
Demoncookie Posted March 5, 2019 Author Posted March 5, 2019 So I'm continuing on this thread because while I have given up (for now) on those mods, I am indeed still having issues with SKSE. I was experiencing random CTDs, so I added the skse.ini txt thing as told, then I went through all of the ENBboost things (I don't even have an enb) and now SKSE won't launch. At all. Not through Vortex, or the steam (program x86) files, or from any desktop icons, nothing. Any help with this new problem would be appreciated, as it would seem I excel at breaking things in new and inventive ways.

It boosts the performance of texture loading and all (if I'm correct I let other judge me on this fact) so you can need an ENB Boost if your computer isn't really a" war machine". Your random CTD may would not be caused by skse directly but I can't insure that. In fact when you change the skse.ini you aren't force to add an ENB boost Quote Now SKSE won't launch. At all. Well if SKSE won't launch I think it has something to do with your ENB installation, or the whole game (it means that all the mods change in the data folder completely broke the game). I will suggest you to reinstall the ENB (with extra cares for all the .ini modification). If it still refuses to launch then I'm afraid that you would have to reinstall the game.
Grey Cloud Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Just to try and clarify things a bit. You need ENBoost even if you are not using an ENB preset. ENBoost is the memory management part. You will also need Crash Fixes and SKSE Plug-in Preloader. These three will kill 99% of known CTDs.
