The latest update for Vortex, uninstalled all my mods.  There are still some files left in the data directory, so it looks like a new install of game may be needed.

Just a warning, DO NOT UPDATE, until you see it is fixed, or know you will not have this problem.

VorNO.  While it works for some, many many others have problems with it - particularly with mods that require very specific load order sequences (like many mods from this site).

Wow I cant believe how many people have problems with Vortex. I grabbed it in November, its all Ive ever used and I haven't had any problems at all with anything. I load my shit sort it with Loot and away I go. Never a problem. Guess I must be just lucky. Lol.  If you ask me I think Looksmenu is responsible for way more errors and problems with other mods then AAF is. 8/10 times when my game crashes Im in the middle of doing something that has to do with looksmenu. Awesome mod but it hasn't been updated since December and theres just as many posts about problems as there is for AAF. Last couple of times I decided to mess with AAF I just did it manually, had it running in like 5 minutes.

Well, I found out it was my fault I put the Staging folder of mods, in an area that gets overwritten on update.  this was done during installation by my error.

I had 230 plugins installed and working before the update.  Including AAF, and almost every AAF mod, so in my opinion so far, it works better than NMM, and easier than Mod organizer.

I will say, I have found it safer, to use remove mod to remove it form the staging folder, than enable and disable.

I agree. I usually pick the remove file and delete archive boxes even when I'm gonna only disable the mod. Then I just reinstall it when I want it again. Never had a problem. I find once you play around a bit and get to know how it works that Vortex is pretty good. At least for me. Ive never used any of the others as the last time I modded anything was way back for GTA3. And if I remember correctly there wasn't any mod managers(at least that I knew of) everything was done manually, so modding Fallout 4 for me is new and Vortex has made it pretty easy. Its funny cause people say that they'll never switch to Vortex and I feel the exact thing but in the opposite way. I have no desire to use anything else. Lol

the best mod manager I used was Fomm, for fallout 3 and nv vegas.

those that have not tried it.  Try it on a new playthru of a new install of the game.  I think you will like it.  I have not tried it, as far as taking over a game the is modded by NMM, Mod organizer and transferring the mods into vortex.

As far as vortex is concerned if you know where you need to place something in the load order once it is installed using vortex it will show up in the in game nods area from the start menu you can move things around in the order in there at least it works for me just an FYI

This last time of having steam lose the directory of my FO4, Vortex popped up with a error of losing my meta information due to the mods being added or lost in the staging folder since my last game wipe and reinstall which was just a little while earlier today and I haven't touched the mod folder or Vortex.  I even uninstalled the mods before I did that.

no i didn't see that. I have my game over on c drive and I put vortex there and the staging folder is over on D.  my c drive is a 256gig SSD while my d is a 1 gig. I'm using the newer NMM the link is off of https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5320 in the stickys.  so far it's been working just now getting around to installing mods. It will allow you to sign in to Nexus and download.
