TDA Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 Actually, is there a performance boost in the game from modern architecture and which one? ( Maybe I will switch to architecture 1155, 2011 or AM4 )
Sladen2019 Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 For most people, probably not. If you are trying to achieve 60 FPS at 4K with a very demanding ENB, perhaps. The newest CPUs are less affected by the performance loss caused by fixes from Microsoft and BIOS suppliers for the Spectre/Meltdown vulnerabilities. If you are planning on upgrading, it may be best to perhaps wait a year or two for better hardware to come out.

In fact, I do not use the ENB, but I try to achieve high FPS when there are many actors ~ 22 units in the scene (~17-20 fps). But whatever system I use with this scene (amd or imtel) , the FPS changes little. Overclocking to 3.8 GHz increases FPS by only 3-5 frames ...
Sladen2019 Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 If you use Oblivion Stutter Remover, you can try turning off bManageFPS in its ini and enabling usage of more cores. bExperimentalStuff = 1 and iThreadsFixedToCPUs = 1 or higher may help.
Fienyx Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 The biggest issue is really just the game engine its self. Just curious, how long has it been since you played vanilla? I did a little just to see, and I had to cap my fps. Too high fps causes issues too, and i was getting 90-110.... but once you start adding more scripted stuff (AWLS, Vector, Tama/Hiyo), more npcs (more AI pcaks need to run), and more clutter (really, why do we need to be able to steal the dishes and vases?? lol), the game engine starts going "WTF!!!". It also matters how many BSAs are in your data folder. I had a maxed out load order, and was able to unpack 30ish BSAs (not bethesdas or Better Cities) and was able to get an extra 5 fps just by not needing to access archives.

No, I test on a practically static scene, there are 20-22 actors in the interior location, they just wander, (textures and etc- everything is very simple, except meshes for the nps). But in Skyrim, for example, FPS is normal 30-40 fps (~30 npc) with the same ~ complexity (models and quantity) ==================================== Nevertheless, I am inclined to believe that it is FaceGen, it is very complex, even in comparison with modern games (technically not visually)

Typing in console tlb would always give me boost of 30-40 FPS even in most crowded and other stressed areas like Waterfront. There was a mod that lowered face quality to 144p somewhere out there on nexus that will probably give another 30-40 FPS boost. ///EDIT: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/48799 https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/49347 Perhaps this can help. I don't currently play OB but am preparing my mods for next playthrough. Did not test it. EDIT: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/49349 Quote This is xdelta patch, it will remove useless garbage from game, fixes some stupid errors in worldspaces & patch it with my "Water FPS Boost" mod. Can't vouch for this. Since it supposedly removes some references it can cause CTD with some mod by off chance makes call to that garbage deleted reference. Sometimes it can happen since CS is wonky and wrong press of the mouse and you can affect the reference in the worldspace without you knowing.
