Rusty Core Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 So awhile back I accidentally deleted my very first three character presets by uninstalling raecmenu and reinstalling it again. As a result, ive made note to keep any saved presets copied to another folder in case of an accident. Just recently, though, while going through my games base folder, I found a .NPC file in there called Tyrrha2.npc, Tyrrha being the characters name ofc. As it stands I have no idea where it came from or how it came to be. It seems to contain slider settings for racemenu or something. Can anyone shed light on this?
Rusty Core Posted October 26, 2018 Author Posted October 26, 2018 And Yes im aware ive posted twice in less than an hours time, if that's against any rule or something
Grey Cloud Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 .npc files are created when you type savepcface <name> They can be opened in the Creation Kit and (I think) are used when turning your PC preset into a follower or NPC. The files may have other uses.

Here's one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8RVPz873ww If you come across any doing it the other way around - make follower your PC - then please let me know.
RW311 Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 If you want to make a follower into your character, for example a standalone custom follower, First find and install all the mods used to make that followers face, or the ones most important that you want to use, this is just hair, eyes, brows mainly (head parts). Next look up that followers ref id number either use console while in game and use help "followersname" or open mod with ck or tes5edit, find where the facegen meshes are stored and make a copy of the facegen.nif file that matches the followers id and move the copy to data\skse\plugins\chargen rename it to something easy to remember later. Start new game, go to sculpt tab in racemenu, import head select the facegen.nif you renamed and moved, now you have that face, you may have to tweak some sliders for eyes or brows anything you didn't have matching mods for or if npc was standalone then names won't match but as long as you installed those same mods you can scroll through and find the same head parts. edit to add, if follower uses a custom head look up the npcs weight settings in ck or tes5edit and set your character weight the same before importing head to avoid neck seam, sometimes custom head will not morph at neck especially if races or head tri's don't match but if weight is the same it generally works fine.

That's all well and good, and I appreciate the information, but... The character I'm referring to was never a follower to begin with sadly. All I remember saving her as was as a character .jslot file for racemenu. And as I said earlier I accidentally deleted those.
