Online Jobs

I'm currently looking for another job and am seeking something like data entry and customer service or anything that let's me work from my home really. This is new to me as the type of work I usually do is not at home and not really with computers. From what I have seen, there are many online jobs to choose from, offered by many different companies. My question is what should I look out for when choosing to apply/work for a company online? Are some of them scams? One that I applied for this morning requires me to download and use their AV software- but, I already have AVG. I'm just looking to make some money without getting tricked is all.  Is there a website that reviews online jobs perhaps? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yups, some are scams and some want you to buy hardware yourself. (This is what I heard from someone that tried the whole "online jobs" thing) There maybe some that are not scams, just be doubly careful.

That's what I think every time they want you to pay for something up front- even if they promise to reimburse. I'll try to find a site or something that maybe reviews online jobs to see which are legit or not. I was just hoping some ppl here had some experience with this.

as soon as to the start, something is required of you, be it a download, personal passwords, personal bank account details or a money transfer, is ALWAYS danger in arrears, so be careful!
a reputable company will contact you first, either in writing or via e-mail. :classic_wink:

edit: ever thought of it to make your hobby into a job?
if you like to play, then YouTube could be your future employer!
I know some Let's Players (also personally) They were after a short time already millionaires.

Maybe some day. I'm not really up to messing with utube bs right now.

I want to make mods and let somebody else showcase them in a vid or whatever- if you know what I mean.

Well, do you have some sort of agency of labour that can help you with that? Normally I'd expect those to have many reliable companies in their services - or the other way round.

Other idea: social profiles like Xing and the like - headhunters might find you.

In the past there were forum / boards for this kind of job hunters, but nowadays - not sure.

All I've heard from teachers is that freelancing is shitty - but they are not working via home office. Still, freelancing.. not sure.

You know, I once had a similar idea. I was good with access and had no problems with creating excel sheets and databases in a larger scale. So I considered to pring flyers and put them to every companies letterbox in my region. I expected people to give me unimportant tasks they didn't want to waste their time with - so that I can build up a reputation and grow in the process. PC skills are still very basic in most normal companies I know, so the market should still be there.

Unfortunately I found a well enough paid job so I got to lazy to do it. Point is, maybe the answer is simple and at hand - maybe it would be better if people know you vis-a-vis.
