Elysianx Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Custom Hair, from a pre-existing Skyrim mod. Wondering if anyone can tell me why the hair has a weird shine on it. (It's also like 10x brighter than the other half of the custom hair) I'm guessing it has to do with NIFSkope, but I can't tell where I messed up. Comparison between the 2 meshes: HunterHairBangs.nif HunterHairBangsHL.nif
Andy14 Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 The NiAlphaPropertie was not set as a child node of the Nitrishape. HunterHairBangs.nif HunterHairBangsHL.nif You should also check if the normal map has an alpha channel. The less transparency in the normal map, the more shiny.

It wasn't any less shiny in-game, but thank you for fixing the Nitrishape. I'm not really experienced with textures, sorry... I did notice that compared to the other hair mod, the normal-map was less opaque. Not quite sure how to fix this, as I am a complete noob with GIMP. Linked the textures it uses. ffx0003.dds ffx0003n.dds ffx0003s.dds

Linked the textures it uses. ffx0003.dds ffx0003n.dds ffx0003s.dds Your normalmap has no alpha channel (and no mipmap). But that is secondary in this case. The UV map of the mesh and the texture area for the hair is only 1/16 of the diffused and normal. And that at texture sizes of 256 x 256. Even with alpha channel it would look awful. These textures are completely useless. It is a conversion of an outfit incl. Hair - right? I have rotated and adjusted your UV in Nifskope and created reasonably appropriate hair textures from existing textures. These are called hairdummy_d.dds and hairdummy_n.dds and must be copied to your folder Textures\lulufair\. They are in the resolution 2048x2048 and NOT compressed. BC3 /DXT5 is the Format, if you want to compress the textures. Here the nifs with edited UV: HunterHairBangsHL.nif HunterHairBangs.nif And here the Texttures in 7zip archive: haridummies_textures.7z Remember, this is just a stopgap. Normally one would use the mesh in Blender/3Ds/etc. import and create a usable UV and then textures.
