Cock Sucker Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 that's my question, i'll explain why (long story don't get bored lol) over the past few days I've been getting about 8 dashes ie " - " <- those on the top of my screen after the bios has booted up as per normal, I was thinking as its hot here at the moment maybe its a temperature thing? or maybe my card is dieing? its a few years old now. this is the weird bit, I was relaxing on my sofa with my tablet and I got two emails from gaijin.net (they are associated with a game called called war thunder (a tank shooter up type thing) but I removed the program must be over a year+ ago (I also think I did a system wipe awhile after that as well - not related) as I found it dull as hell, plus it was part of an offer (install this game for game credits in another game), but the people who gave the credits didn't want to give them and banned me by calling me a "hacker" -.- even though this was the first time I've ever tried an offer type thing like this before.. so finding out someone hacked that account emails said someone logged in from Russia... yea seriously... I decided to change the pw and then close the account (which I did), and I did a control+alt+del and looked in the task manager and saw an out of place 0.dat*32 running, as I know whats normally running on my system etc.etc so I shut that process down. me being eh? that's dodgy after the emails and the attack attempt on my unused war thunder account I was thinking maybe somethings creeped onto my system? so then I got a notification to update my graphics drivers notification (GeForce experience) did that, and planned to reset and do a full virus check on my system as I havnt done one in 6+ months, did a reset. and bang those lines appeared again, this time though a lot of garbage lines also appeared on the top 6 lines of the screen like it was writing someonething (windows wouldn't load up), I decided to shut it down for 10mins (incase) turned back on and nothing changed -.- so I did a system repair which didn't seem to work, did a system restore and that got my windows back up again with just those 8 dashes. now the weird bit... the bios startup screen doesn't have those 8 dashes, went into the bios and nothing there also all seems fine just when it went into load windows it happens.. then im thinking it HAS to be the drivers maybe or win 7 has corrupted something to do with the display drivers? so now I was looking doing a clean wipe of the graphics drivers or a 5-6hour file backup and full system wipe and doing a clean install -.- then I remembered I got win10 on a separate 500gb SSD as a backup / emergency, I only use one drive at a time so they're never on together, and low and behind no lines on the screen O_O but restarted win 7 and they came back so am I right? graphics drivers? or a win7 file issue? your thoughts!
Grey Cloud Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Did you get around to doing the full virus scan? Check for trojans and other malware. Doubt it's the garphics drivers. Viruses and the like generally like to get in early before the OS loads so they infect the boot sector. Search online for 0.dat*32 and see what comes up.
Ernest Lemmingway Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I would recommend installing Malwarebytes and SpyBot, then restarting Win 7 in Safe Mode and running them. They'll detect and clean things most antivirus programs won't. Including dat32, a known piece of malware.

Yea I did I got kaspersky Internet security which does full system security w/ virus protection and the scan found zip
