[Solved] Upper body rotating up/down to follow crosshair when weapons out

One day, after playing around with mods, I've suddenly noticed a wonderful thing - when my character had their weapons out (anything - ranged, melee, magic), their whole upper body in the 3rd person view rotated around the waist to follow the crosshair when I moved it up or down (in vanilla, there was no vertical rotation like that). So, when I looked down with weapons out, the character would bend down, and vice-versa. Pretty sure this affected NPCs as well, when they were in combat and looked at an enemy when they were located at different heights.

It all looked really cool.

Now, all of a sudden, I noticed it's gone.

Here's what I suspected could cause this feature to disappear:
- Replacing the mod "Player Headtracking" with "PC Headtracking and Voice". Changing back didn't help.

- Playing around with different skeleton files. Installing the latest XPMSE skeleton didn't help.

- "Enchanced Camera" settings? Pretty sure I didn't touch anything there since it was working.

- FNIS update?

- Some game settings?

I'm lost now. I don't know where this feature originated from (was it a mod or game settings?), and haven't been able to make it work again yet. Google seems to not know anything about it.

Does anyone have an idea where it may be coming from?

i had EXACTLY this problem. it is definitely a FNIS thing. in a recent update of FNIS, this setting was switched from default enabled to default disabled. somewhere, there is a FNIS ini that you need to change. cant remember exactly where that is, but there is more info on the FNIS page about this change >.<

Hmm... Checked the "PatchList.txt" in FNIS... Does this ring a bell? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68794

(this worked with every weapon though... not just magic...)

From FNIS on Nexus:

Quote

"Proper Spell Cast Direction" (PSCD) fix now switched off by default. Has to be activated in the FNIS.ini (PSCD=1)

Soo... where's FNIS.ini? I don't have it in GenerateFNIS_for_Users. Should I just create it?

copy fnis.ini0 to your BASE skyrim/data folder, paste the copy there, rename it fnis.ini, open it and uncomment the setting.

yeah, that was it. it also has an option to basically run FNIS "silently", so it starts without clicks and closes when finished so long as there are no errors. handy! :D

Well, I already solved it another way, by unhiding this patch in FNIS "PatchList.txt":

Changed this:
PSCD#1#0#10090#...

to this:
PSCD#0#0#10090#...

Checked it in the interface, run the Generator... it works now! :) Thanks for the tips.
