Nymra Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Can be I just put in the wrong search keywords or my google fu failed me, but I could not find a definite answer to the following question: 1. Is there a way (Tes5Edit, Creation Kit, whatever) to edit the BASIC MCM Menu options of a mod, meaning outside skyrim in the mods files itself, so whenever I install the mod, it has my custom MCM settings instead of the preset MCM settings? 2. Is that way (if it exists) doable without creating new problems or is it achieveable without diving eyes deep into the creation kit or other programs functionality? For example, I could edit the JSON file for some mod where the settings were saved. But I also found out that only a few mods have such JSON files. And yes, I ask this mainly for some mods that do not allow FISS or whatever to save their settings... Thx for any help.
donttouchmethere Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 verstort taught me it is doable via TESVedit played around with that a bit still you have to do it again with every mod update => maybe some crack knows a better solution
Content Consumer Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Depends on the mod, and how it's made. Like, some mods will export their MCM settings - Sexlab for example has an export option. That's the .json file you're thinking of. Some (most?) mods, though, don't do that, and the default MCM options are hardcoded in the MCM script. In those cases, you can change the default options by altering the script. If the mod gets updated, you can just overwrite the updated MCM script with your modified one. Of course, if you do that, and the update was to the MCM script, you might end up breaking something. But if the update wasn't to the MCM script, it *should* be fine, I'd think.
Nymra Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 Thank you. Then I will have a look into the TESVedit for now. Updates are a lot less regular than me setting up new mod profiles and change all the MCM options AGAIN Would be just neat if ALL Mods had that export Options, le sigh...
