PsychoMachina Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Time to reset or, at least, reboot your router. VPNFilter is on the loose. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/05/fbi-tells-router-users-to-reboot-now-to-kill-malware-infecting-500k-devices/?comments=1 https://www.symantec.com/blogs/threat-intelligence/vpnfilter-iot-malware
myuhinny Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Just checked and I'm good to go as mine isn't on the list.
RitualClarity Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Clouldn't hurt to reboot and change the password (at least) even if not on the list. Those are only the most likely routers. There are many that use the same hardware/firmware that aren't necessarily named under that list. Also make sure your router has the latest firmware and updates and keep an eye out for if the company does create a new one in the coming week or two just in case.
ghostwalkr Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Here's the full write-up from the Cisco Talos group https://blog.talosintelligence.com/2018/05/VPNFilter.html Thanks for sharing this, while my router is not listed, I still took time to double check my setting to make sure that remote admin was disabled. I think I'll move up my scheduled password change to take place sooner rather than later.
