Fifoo Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 The first time I played Skyrim was in a completely vanilla session, ie without any mod or utility, until level 80 and without having progressed too much in the main quest - Skyrim: A Blade in the Dark, defeated Miraak and wanted to return in the main Nordic Land to pursue what was dear to me then: explore the world in its four corners and help needy NPCs. The quests were piling up as the encounters were made, I did not know where to turn any more sometimes, being used to the fact that each choice made in a role-playing game had a big impact in the future course of the game, I had to weigh pros and cons trying to follow as much as possible an axis that seemed to stick to my character and be careful ... what was my disappointment to see that it was not the case with Skyrim, because too limited in this area, there was nothing, if not much, of what made the force of a real role-playing game, namely a world that evolves according to your own choices and actions made. Spoiler alert: for those who want to avoid knowing the progress of some quests do not read what is written in the link below: Spoiler Skyrim: 15 Choices That Made Absolutely NO Difference I sense the temptation is great here, so be strong and determined not to succumb to it. The game has potential that has not been deepened by Bethesda, we can already note that a lot of elements of the role-playing game have been removed in Skyrim, compared to previous opus: there is no more class, no more attributes, no more dice rolls determining the success of your actions ... and obviously we can not compare it with a game such as Baldur's Gate, for example, or even Morrowind, which are much more detailed in terms of history and characters, even if a considerable choice of mods is proposed to us today for improve it in different areas ... until the crash or buggy script that could soon arise one day, yes, unfortunately. Now I test combinations of mods, especially at the graphics and gameplay level, and do not hesitate to restart the game from the beginning if needed, because why focus on a character who in the background, remains more or less limited in the roleplay in the pure wording sense? Well, that's just my way of seeing things, again.
skyrimowy Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 I don't want to read all posts - I write you only some advices... A safest mods to uninstall are: skse plugins texture replacers some loose files like music files, sounds, meshes, facegens, chargens, bodyslide files, LOD...hmm i forgot propably something xD the mods that have not ESP/ESM plugins Avoid to uninstalling through playthrough mods that have .ESM .ESP because they can messed up, not instantly but after 24 hours of playing or 7days you can get CTDs "without reason" one by one... and game can be unplayable if you really must... uninstall equipable things [armors/weapons etc.] but they can't be worn by you and by NPCs You can't uninstall mods that have scripts - NOT UNINSTALL, I REPEAT NOT UNINSTALL

Some of it is a repeat but some is new. Right now the consensus (not all but most) is it is safe to do most things up to about level 8 as long as you don't start any of the major quest lines (Companions, Mages, Civil War, etc.) and don't do Bleak Falls Barrow. This limits play to generic sites that respawn anyway. Level 8 seems to be the cap because that is when Dawnguard starts (whether you want it to or not). So, another way to put it is as long as you do it before Dawnguard starts or you start a major questline.

It seems a perfectly reasonable perspective to me but, I daresay, not one shared by most of the people who have come to this thread. Thanks though, I'm sure it will give people something to think about. ?
Sladen2019 Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 In my recent playthroughs, I have removed mods and have had no issues. I'm not saying its safe to remove them and that everybody should do it. Most people should not in fact. Everyone has their own way of doing it and some do it very stupidly, so you can't always go by their experiences or what they say. In my cases, I start off with fresh and stable builds using MO. MO installs stuff cleanly and also disables stuff properly and uninstalls stuff right, but MO has to be learned and used correctly. The best thing I ever done, was get rid of NMM and everything installed along with it and started fresh with MO. No retarded Frankenstein builds with half of the stuff installed with NMM and some in MO. When you clean your saves, its best to use Fallrim Tools. If you make a Bashed Patch, as you should, redo it after disabling the mod before you start your game up again.
