Licenses is a new generation license mod: modular, transparent, performant, compatible, and lightweight. Licenses allows you to define Skyrim's laws as roleplay elements to abide by or as a punishing gold sink. This mod is a drastic enhancement of the original mod by BananasManiac and aims only to focus on its namesake feature. Mod version formats attempt to follow semantic versioning. Adult or explicit content can be completely avoided depending on your installation choices and in-game settings. This mod's scope does not extend beyond license enforcement. Developers are free to integrate based on their desired angle.

 

Basic Premise

Skyrim is in turmoil: The civil war has emptied city coffers; dangerous beasts roam the dark; and Skyrim's citizens continue to dwindle amidst the terror. In the days before High King Torygg's death, his council had convened one last time to form a unanimous decree. The people's freedom is for the future, not for the present.

 

Note: Only LoversLab releases contain the Misogynistic Dialogue Patch. However, all deprecated LoversLab archives are at risk of removal because I will only ever support the latest version. Should you need access to older versions, head to Licenses' Nexus Mods listing. Bear in mind that bundled patches are only compatible with the version they are released with; don't use a previous version's patch with a newer core version.

 

 

 

— Cumulative Basic Features —

Primary Licenses

• Armor License
  • Allows you to wear armor, bikini items, and clothing
• Bikini License
  • Allows you to wear bikini-tagged armor and clothing
  • (This license feature essentially checks for correctly-flagged items and can be manipulated for your use case)
• Clothing License
  • Allows you to wear clothes
• Magic License
  • Allows you to equip spells and staffs
  • Enable Cursed Collar via MCM option toggle
  • Enable enforcement of enchanted clothing, armor, weaponry, and jewelry via MCM option toggle
  • Enable enforcement of spell tomes and scrolls via inventory confiscation
• Weapon License
  • Allows you to equip weapons and ammo

 

Secondary Licenses

• Crafting License
  • Allows you to craft using workbench furniture
    • If you don't have a valid license, you'll only be able to freely use cooking pots
• Trading License
  • Allows you to purchase items beyond just food, jewelry, and gems
  • Also allows you to sell items to merchants
• Curfew Exemption
  • Allows you to walk around at night
• Travel Permit
  • Allows you to travel away from a registered home city or town location
    • If you're in Whiterun City, you must stay in or around Whiterun City. Traveling to Solitude, even though it is another settlement, and even if by carriage or with followers, is a breach of license rules
    • To register a new home location, buy a Travel Permit and either turn it in or allow it to expire while you're in a recognized city or town location
  • Enable permit immunity with followers via MCM option toggle
• Life Insurance
  • Allows you to enjoy the benefits of equipment licenses while in cities and towns
    • Skyrim acts as a beneficiary in the event of your untimely death
  • Variable cost based on Misbehaviour and Popularity modifiers
    • Misbehaviour updates per license violation and imprisonment. Violation types are weighted. Crime gold when imprisoned is factored based on linear interpolation
    • Misbehaviour degrades via exponential decay formula
    • Popularity updates every 12 in-game hours

 

Tertiary Licenses (Mod-dependent)

• Whore License (Open Integration)
  • A "dummy feature" meant for the player to sell their body freely near guards
    • Licenses only handles the selling and expiry of this license type. Prostitution feature and enforcement is not a part of this mod
• Collar Exemption (Devious Devices)
  • Allows you to take off your collar and walk around collar-less. Utilizes Devious Devices for item-locking mechanics

 

Universal License Settings

• Select the license seller's job faction
• Set a maximum number of NPCs to tag for enforcer events
• Select a limit to the number of licenses you can purchase at a time
• Define a purchase cooldown period that activates for licenses after they expire
• Decide if License documents can be damaged while you're swimming
• Allow Thanes to be immune to all license rules in the Hold where they've gained Thaneship

— Upgrading —

Minor updates (major.minor.patch) may or may not require a cleaned or new save. Check your papyrus log to verify if your errors are benign. Use Fallrim Tools or Resaver to clean your save. Unless otherwise noted, there's no need to fully uninstall Licenses for updates.

 

When upgrading some pre-existing saves, you may see the following notification: "Detected potential config version conflict." Licenses will automatically prompt you to reset your MCM quest. If you'd like to defer this action, you may later go to [licenses > Auxiliary > Reset MCM] to properly upgrade your save game. Resetting the MCM is not always necessary and should only be done (if at all) when Licenses provides the prompt. This reset prompt also won't appear for all updates; it'll only appear when the quasi-smart checker assumes it necessary.

Beyond Skyrim - Bruma

• Allows Licenses' features to work in Bruma.

 

Internal

Devious Interests

• Licenses forwards Devious Interests' jail/prison features. Ensure Licenses' "Allow Jail Quest Nodes" is enabled. Licenses must also be loaded after Devious Interests in your load order list.

 

Licenses additionally receives events from the following mods to safeguard the player during sensitive conditions.

• DHLP (Deviously Helpless), Prison Alternative, SexLab Framework, Simple Slavery

 

Manual

SexLab Survival

• To prevent competing features, all SLS license features bar Property and Freedom licenses should be disabled. 'SLS-specific Enforcer NPC' and 'Vanilla Guard NPC' randomizers should also be disabled. Go here for clarification on differences between Licenses and SLS.

Sexy Adventures

• To prevent competing features, SA Crime Laws that mirror Licenses' respective license restrictions should be disabled. For example, SA Collar Law should be disabled if Licenses' Collar Exemption is enabled.

• Enables Helgen location monitoring while the town still stands.

Equip Enchantment Fix

• Fixes an engine bug that disables Cursed Collar's effects in some situations.

Licenses - Dialogue Patch (Bundled)

• Heightens misogynistic and explicit dialogue to target weak-willed female player characters.

Licenses - NPC Voice Pack

• Provides NPC voices.
